Open Society Foundations Announce $220 Million for Building Power in Black Communities

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/13/2020 11:12 AM
New York, NY...To support this nation’s historic movement towards racial justice, the Open Society Foundations today is announcing investments totaling $220 million in emerging organizations and leaders building power in Black communities across the country, placing a bet on their ability to carry today’s momentum toward a better tomorrow. The largest share of this support—$150 million—will be through a set of five-year grants to Black-led justice organizations that helped to create and now sustain the momentum towards racial equality. Open Society’s response reflects our conviction that real progress requires sustained support over many years and letting leaders accountable to impacted communities shape the path forward.

Make Your Home Ember Resistant & Get Your Wildfire Protection Tools At Bathroom Machineries In Murphys

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/13/2020 10:39 AM
Murphys, CA...DEA Bathroom Machineries in addition to all the classic & historic plumbing supplies they also have perfect, common sense, easy to deploy Wildfire protection tools. Tom Scheller showed us several options including the W.A.S.P. Fire protection system. The W.A.S.P. Wildfire Protection Kit installs either on your ridge ends or clips directly onto your gutter. It will fit on either OG or Facia gutter styles. The kit comes with 2-25 foot industrial quality hoses, two sprinkler heads, two gutter mounts, and two ridge end clips. Basically, you can quickly clip these onto your ridge or gutter using a piece of 3/4″ PVC (not supplied), turn them on, and have your roof soaked to help prevent ignition during fires. Depending on water pressure, these can have up to a 34′ radius.

The Way to Wealth - Benjamin Franklin, 1758

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/12/2020 07:10 PM
Philadelphia, PA...In 1732 I first published my Almanac under the name of Richard Saunders; it was continued by me about twenty-five years, and commonly called Poor Richard's Almanac. I endeavoured to make it both entertaining and useful, and it accordingly came to be in such demand, that I reaped considerable profit from it, vending annually near ten thousand. And observing that it was generally read, (scarce any neigbbourbood in the province being without it,) I considered it as a proper vehicle for conveying instruction among the common people, who bought Scarcely any other books. I therefore filled all the little spaces, that occurred between the remarkable days in the Calendar, with proverbial sentences, chiefly such as inculcated industry and frugality, as the means of procuring wealth, and thereby securing virtue; it being more difficult for a man in want to act always honestly, as (to use here one of those proverbs) It is hard for an empty sack to stand upright"
