Angels Camp, CA...Thomas Diamont, 91 years young, passed away on April 19th, 2024. He was pre-deceased by wife Jean in 2007, sweethearts for over 60 years. Tom is survived by his 3 children, Sandra (Brad) Peterson, Tom (Miguel) Diamont, and David (Carrie) Diamont, all of Murphys CA. Spending time with his children and grandchildren and extended family was his greatest joy since moving from Los Altos to Murphys over five years ago.

Karen Lynn Hooton passed peacefully in her home in San Andreas surrounded by her daughters after a tough battle with breast cancer. True to form, she passed on the oddest day of the calendar, Leap Day, 2-29-24. Karen was born in Washington state to Eldon and Forrest Maxwell and lived most of her adult life in Mokelumne Hill,

The upstairs was home to the Sender family, and the first floor included groceries, a meat market, a bar, and a small eating place called Opa’s Smokehouse. On Christmas morning in 1968, the old store was destroyed by fire. But in June 1969, Sender’s Market, Inc. was opened. Since that time, there have been many changes, including remodeling, expansion, and the addition of many employees. That’s also when we added the truss plant and purchased Sender’s Market Ace Hardware in Valley Springs. Today, we’re still family owned and still working hard to stock everything from pantry essentials to power tools. Angels Camp, CA..Bret Harte senior and junior girls will go against each other on the football field, Friday, May 24th at 5:00 for a game of flag football! The girls will be able to design their own football jerseys to rep during the game and keep for memories after. The community and students will be able to get into the game for $3 admission to watch the match up!
