Harlan W. Bimat 1936 ~ 2024

Valley Springs, CA...Harlan W. Bimat February 10, 1936 ~ May 17, 2024 (age 88). Harlan W. Bimat was born on February 10, 1936 to Lois and Bernard Bimat Jr. He passed away at home on May 17, 2024 at the age of 88.

Harlan graduated from Parlier High School (Class of '55) where he was a stand-out athlete. He then attended Reedley College. Harlan married Peggy Bell, his high school sweetheart, and together they raised their family in Reedley where he coached Pop Warner football and led the 4-H Horse Unit. They later resided in Exeter for many years and recently moved to Valley Springs to be closer to their family.

In his early adult years, Harlan enjoyed hunting, fishing, and 4-wheeling with the 4 Wheel Drive Club. He also trained and competed cutting horses for much of his life and enjoyed passing on his knowledge and helping other riders.

Harlan was an avid Harley motorcycle rider and a member of several motorcycle clubs. He and Peggy loved going on motorcycle rides with friends to destinations all over the western United States.

In his career, Harlan worked as a bank auditor, winery compliance officer, and horse trainer. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Peggy Bimat, daughter Terri Tanner (Dave) of Valley Springs, sons Todd Bimat (Erin) of Tucson, AZ, and Derek Bimat (Sarah) of Torrance, grandchildren Katy Munniks (Vance), David Tanner (Kristen), Trent Bimat, Gage Bimat, Katie Tanner Bomer (Garrett), and Skyler Bimat, and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank and acknowledge the caring nurses and staff of Hospice of Amador & Calaveras Counties.

A celebration of life will be held later this summer.
