John and Sandee Watts Honored
Bear Valley, CA...John and Sandee Watts were recognized for their contributions to BVSEF(Bear Valley Sports Education Foundation) with the Bear Valley Race Team Building being dedicated in their honor. The award took place at the 2008 Bear Valley Central Series Awards Dinner which was held at Bear Valley Mountain Resort on Saturday January 12th...
The Watts Family
John and Sandee's son, John Henry, was on hand for the presentation of a plaque which was inscribed:
John and Sandee Watts
Race Team Building
"In recognition of their unrelenting support of the Bear Valley Snow Sports Education Foundation and ski team athletes at the Bear Valley Mountain Resort, this building is named in their honor"
Over the years, John and Sandee have been vital participants in BVSEF with John serving as president of the Foundation until he stepped down late last year. Both John and Sandee have been the mainstay of the volunteer support for the Far West Central Series SL race which is held annually at Bear Valley. As Chief Gate Judge, John runs a very expert crew of gate judges and Sandee can be found at the leaderboard logging race results.
In addition to their efforts on the Bear Valley races, John and Sandee were instrumental in returning the Race Building back to from Mountain Operations to the Race Team and BVSEF. They not only oversaw the renovation of the building but did a huge amount of the work themselves. Through their efforts, BVSEF not only has a terrific facility for the race team to meet but we have the finest facility for race timing in the Central Sierra.
Much is owed to John and Sandee and with the dedication of the Race Team Building, their efforts certainly will not be forgotten.
