Angels Camp 2nd Annual Italian Heritage Day, a Fun Packed Event Planned for May 3rd....Video From Last Years Event Enclosed!
Angels Camp, CA....You Don’t Have to Italian to Have Fun at Italian Heritage Day!! Saturday May 3rd, admission is free to the Angels Camp Business Association’s second annual Italian Heritage Day. Located in the heart of California’s Gold Country, Italian Heritage Day is full day of fun for the whole family. Festivities will commence at 8:30 in the morning with a pancake breakfast at St. Patrick’s Church, leaving just enough time to get a good spot to watch the Cavalcade of Cowboys Parade starting at 9:30 (Parade Check-in.....
begins at 8:00). The Parade will start in north Angels on Main Street and proceed all the way down through the Historic District. On parade will be cowboys, horses, antique carriages and automobiles, and various dignitaries.
At 9:00 o’clock the fun begins at the Museum and Saint Patrick’s Church, with food and wine, arts and crafts, and day-long entertainment and activities.
This year’s Italian Heritage Day features entertainment by the Calaveras Community Band and the operatic voice of Supervisor Russ Thomas. The Italian Heritage Day special Public Frog Jump is back this year, as well as a special appearance by the Mountain Mischief Juggling Show. There will be special demonstrations, discussions on Italian history in the Gold Country, book signings, and tours of the Angels Camp Museum.
In the Carriage House, there will be showings of a 1936 CalTrans film titled “California Highways”. This ½ hour long film is a fascinating look at California’s highways and automobiles as they were 80 years ago. Shown every hour on the hour, the film includes interesting footage of the Gold Country and Angels Camp.
So make plans to come and stay all day. You don’t have to be Italian to have fun at Italian Heritage Day, Saturday, May 3, 2008 in Angels Camp. But it couldn’t hurt.
See you there!
