Murphys, CA…. Ironstone Vineyards was in full bloom for Daffodil Days 2008, this weekend. The yellow celebration included food, wine, art and thousands of daffodils. Ironstone has 14 acres of approximately 500,000 daffodils in bloom during this time of year, creating a yellow field of blooms along the road into the vineyards and winery….

Murphys, CA….Thousands of people lined the streets of down town Murphys this afternoon for the 17th annual Irish Day celebration. The yearly Irish tradition brought the “Luck of the Irish” weather, wet and cold. For the first half of the morning the sun was peaking through the large puffy clouds with a slight mist in the air, common weather in Ireland. Around one o’clock after the parade had ended; a total change in weather had thousands of people fleeing for cover. The light mist had turned into rain, hail, and then snow. The bad weather however didn’t stop thousands of locals and tourists from all over the United States from coming and celebrating St. Patrick…..

Angels Camp, CA....The 21st Annual La Contenta Pro-Am Golf Tournament benefiting the Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) will be a Cinco de Mayo celebration this year. The always popular event, which features a prize purse of $4,000 for pro golfers and more than $2,000 for amateur players, will take place on Monday, May 5, at the Valley Springs golf course. Calaveras County Sheriffs Association to Hold Dinner To Benefit Local Youth

San Andreas, CA...The Annual Calaveras Deputy Sheriff Association (DSA) will hold their annual Dinner Dance on Saturday March 22nd ad San Andreas Town Hall. The event will start at 6pm with a no-host bar, then dinner to follow at 7pm. The proceeds for this event go to local youth organizations, and contributions to local scholarships every year. Bear Valley, CA....Bear Valley Mountain Resort held their final Slopestyle and Progression Session of the season on Saturday March 8th. This year they offered $1500 in prizes. There was an Amateur and Open Division. Slopestyle is freestyle snowboarding and skiing competition. Slopestyle is also emerging as a niche in the world of mountainbiking with new competitions emerging that seek ways to judge the new breed of freeriders. In slopestyle, the rider or skier is free to choose his or her own route through a course consisting of various terrain features, such as bumps, rails, and jumps....
