Mokelumne Hill, CA....The Mother Lode Chapter of Bikers Against Child Abuse, BACA, are one of the newest groups to work with our County's Child Abuse Prevention Council. They are reaching out to the children in the Mother Lode. BACA will be doing a 100 mile bike ride on April 26th. All proceeds will benefit abused children in the Mother Lode. Mokelumne Hill, CA...CHP has sent us the News Release of the three vehicle collision that occurred at Hwy 49 and Main Street in Mokelumne Hill last evening. The first vehicle was traveling south on Hwy 49 at approximately 45mph and was unable to stop and avoid striking the second vehicle that was stopped waiting to make a left hand turn onto Main Street. The impact for this vehicle into the Northbound lane of Hwy 49 and into the path of the third vehicle involved....

Angels Camp, CA...We had the pleasure to chat for a few minutes with The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce's Executive Director, Diane Gray. One of the big pushes for the Chamber this year will be Economic Development and bringing additional jobs to the county. The Chamber is meeting with Calaveras County Board of Supervisors Chair, Steve Wilensky next week. A Supervisor's Study Session will be held at a later date on Economic Development. This will enable what everyone can do to enhance the economic vitality of our area....

Angels Camp, CA...We had the pleasure to talk for a few minutes with Ray Waller, the former head Calaveras County Building official on the ongoing driveway slope controversy. For those of you who may not remember the county stopped issuing permits for development on parcels where the driveway slope exceeds 16%. This has numerous parcels currently tied up in protraced if not uncloseable escrows and has thrown the value of hundreds of millions of dollars of county real estate and homes into question. We wanted to talk with Ray about this issue because he was with the county and the building department when the original county ordinance was created to comply with state code 4290...
