All good things must come to an end. . .

The sooner the better for our poor county. Merita had a socialist agenda and could care less about the pain she caused the residents and small business!

Very Happy to hear she's out at the BOS!

Now lets focus on dumping Garimendi. . .

Well, it's not just apparently that she took her daughter skiing in a PG&E vehicle. It's that she was supposed to be working (for PG&E) that day. She was on the clock, took a company vehicle, then was found out because she got in an accident with said vehicle with her daughter inside. Gee.

Merita has served our community compassionately and with dedication for many years. I will miss her bright smile and willingness to be available to discuss all things relevant but most of all, her talent in bringing people of varying opinion together toward consensus. It easily takes a good two years to get up to speed on county government and interactions with the state, too. The county as a whole will be hard pressed to replace her experience and enthusiasm..

Agreed! And I am a conservative. Having been an active volunteer in this County for 45 years, I appreciate Her genuine concern for our County, like I do. I see her all the time at different County events both in and out of her District. She sure beats the *bleep* out of the last Narcisist representative we experienced! No, I do not always agree with her. Why can't people agree to disagree & move on & actually be productive??? That has been my relationship with her & I thank her for that. She truly disserves to throughly enjoy the next chapter of her life.

To be clear, this is not a matter of agreeing to disagree (which should always be done civilly) or narcism (if only it were that). This supervisor was much more baleful and damaging with a record of decades-long systemic corruption, lying and misleading even and especially in public, taking money and goods in lieu, ignoring the safety of constituents when something could be done, and making profound business missteps as a county representative costing us all millions of dollars.
Some of her worst harm was perpetuated againsher very own ardent supporters whom she encouraged (or at the very least did not dissuade from) investing their lives' savings and taking out loans to get in on the ground floor of an industry regulated by legislation providing them zero chance of financial advancement. Many people in Calaveras County (Yes. There were some young, hardworking well-meaning growers) lost their homes, land, and/or went bankrupt when she led them astray with poorly written county ordinances. No matter. This industry in CA was designed for and by large scale operations. She has tarnished the reputation of public office here. It's a lesson.

No. She did not serve all in the community. She was only interested in serving "my supporters." There was a wall of silence for anyone else. Not only that, she actually did not do her job. She showed up at events. She did not do her job.

Merita did it again! When we had a heavy snow event in District 3, she sent the County snow vehicles to the lower elevations. Her connections with her former employer, PG&E did nothing. We asked and asked and asked again for a plan for this year. She did nothing. We were without power, cell service, landlines, and wifi again with no relief. She is not helpful unless one is a pot grower.

Your not understanding is no excuse. Merita was asked last year after the heavy snow storm to do a community meeting, to gather information, and to put together a plan. We do not need someone to coddle us. We have needed a responsive supervisor. She completely ignored all requests. She knows she did not show up and do anything. People died last year in the storm. One woman was forced to sit inside with her dead husband for 3 days because she could not get out and could not contact anyone. So this is why we wanted Merita's help to plan for this year. Merita's answer? Silence.

I am most concerned that she has left us unprotected with regard to her purview with Covid. She ignored safety protocols (unless it involved her protecting herself). We asked and politely requested she cancel all public gatherings. She refused. We asked her to enforce restaurant protections. She refused. Why? Those who supported her were not required to shut down, even when restaurant employees were known to have Covid - and Merita knew it. She did nothing. She caused real and actual harm.

No one here is attacking Merita by simply listing facts. If any one had actually cited specifics (other than the decades old accident she caused while stealing a company car on company time with her kid in the car), maybe the DA would take note. Blackmailing District 3 constituents who have businesses, into publicly supporting her or risk the consequences of her blocking or delaying permits, not supporting specific business expansions, and more are just a few.

Both conservatives and mountain folk have gone soft. They used to be the people you could count on to say what they thought and just go about working hard and having a good time. They would truly walk the talk and didn’t get butt hurt if you disagreed with them. Now they just whine and complain and blame everyone else for their problems. Nowadays, there is basically no difference between conservatives and liberals,

When an estimation is conducted of Ms. Callaway's county supervisorial terms, will it be seen that she gave those in the boat with her ("my supporters") life vests or rocks?
