Fatal UTV Accident Near New Hogan Lake

Valley Springs, CA...Firefighters responded Thursday night to a UTV accident near Coyote Point at New Hogan Lake. Due to the remote location of the accident, firefighters had to hike into the incident and use our Rescue Boat and a boat from the Army Corps Engineer Park Ranger to access the remote location.

Calaveras Consolidated Firefighters, Army Corp of Engineer Park Rangers and CHP back on the water at New Hogan Lake to retrieve the UTV from Thursday night's accident.

Firefighters located the UTV on its side with one male pinned under the vehicle (fatality) and another male that was ejected with minor injuries.

The vehicle rolled over and tumbled down the embankment approximately two hundred feet from a foot trail and came to rest on a rocky ledge 30 feet from the water's edge of the Lake.

Firefighters used rescue rope and rigging to pull the large all-terrain vehicle off of the deceased victim.

The cause of of the accident is under investigation by CHP.
