Angels Camp's Light Up The Night Decoration Challenge
Angels Camp, CA...Cuddle up the kids (and adults!) into those matching Christmas footie pj’s and load into the car to tour Angels Camp homes and businesses decked out for the holidays! The Angels Camp Business Association, Angels Camp Community Club, and Bank of Stockton are hosting the second annual Light Up the Night Christmas lights tour of the city, and they need you to vote for the best decorations! Download the map here starting December 3, 2021, drive around Angels Camp to check out the lights, then vote for your favorites.
December 11, 2021 is the finale and last chance to vote, wave to Santa, hear Christmas caroling, and get treats for the kiddos. There will also be donation stations on the route for Toys For Tots at the Angels Camp Museum and Calaveras Lumber, and The Resource Connection will have a donation station at Calaveras Lumber for the local food bank. You can’t help but get into the Christmas spirit with this fun, family-friendly, small-town event.

25th Museum Anniversary & Free Appraisal Clinic at Ironstone Vineyards!
Murphys, CA: Ironstone Vineyards is hosting a free appraisal clinic along with a casual gathering to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its Heritage Museum. Home of the world’s largest Crystalline Gold Leaf Specimen (44 lbs.), the Heritage Museum was erected December 8, 1996, as a tribute to the Gold Rush and Mining era that took place 170+ years ago. The appraisal clinic will be hosted by Fred Holabird of Holabird Americana, the world’s largest specialist and auction house of early Americana, that day from 10am-4pm, and again on Sunday from 10am – 1pm. Following the clinic, renowned Author Robin Holabird will do a special reading of several excerpts from her newest book, “Around the World in 80 Movies”, as well as a Q&A session. Finally, at 5pm, guests are welcomed to the Museum to mingle and enjoy champagne and appetizers while listening to presentations from Ironstone President Stephen Kautz, Fred Holabird and Ironstone Founder & Owner John Kautz. “Aside from the wine, our Crystalline Gold Leaf Specimen and Heritage Museum has played a massive role in making Ironstone the premier attraction that it is,” says Stephen Kautz, President at Ironstone Vineyards. “It is our great pleasure to have an opportunity to invite guests to the property to celebrate with us.”
Admission to the Appraisal Clinic and celebration is free of charge. Reservations are not necessary for either event, however those with large collections planning to attend the clinic are recommended to make an appointment with Chris Gomez at cgomez@ironstonevineyards.com. AJ Lee and Blue Summit, a bluegrass band led by singer, songwriter, and mandolinist, AJ Lee, has been the darling of the North Bay, California bluegrass scene since their first appearance in Santa Cruz. Drawing from influences such as swing, folk, blues, jazz, country, soul, and rock, their undeniable talent and insatiable passion for bluegrass harks back to traditional classics while remaining uniquely modern. Over the years, Blue Summit’s performed all around the country as well as in the UK, Ireland, and France. They’ve accrued many devout followers and distinctions including the Freshgrass 2019 Band Contest Winner, IBMA 2019 Momentum Vocalist of the Year, 2nd Place at the 2019 Winfield Guitar Competition, and numerous awards in Northern California. In 2019, AJ Lee and Blue Summit came out with their debut album, “Like I Used To,” which consists entirely of AJ’s original songs. Equipped with these new songs and their archive of nostalgic tunes, they’ll continue playing to both familiar and new audiences, endearing themselves to the country and the world.
“Could This Kid Be the Next Allison Krauss?” Mother Jones magazine asked about AJ Lee — and for good reason. She has won the Northern California Bluegrass Society’s (NCBS) Best Female Vocalist award nine times – and she’s only twenty-one! Popular Webzine Californiality called AJ “California’s Hottest Singer” because of her jaw-droppingly beautiful voice. AJ began singing and performing on stage at the astonishing age of five. By twelve, she began writing her own songs and showcasing them nation-wide. She has traveled with many bands, including “The Tuttles with AJ Lee,” which was featured at numerous festivals across the U.S. and beyond. She is a fantastic mandolinist and songwriter with a gorgeous voice. Ms. Lee is excited to share Blue Summit’s latest album consisting of all original material.
