Arts of Bear Valley Pop-up Summer Show in Downtown Murphys

Murphys, CA...Murphys, known for its vibrant art scene, will host Arts of Bear Valley's first art exhibit and sale in the downtown area. For ten days in June (June 7 through June 16), eighteen artists will fill Ruby Parlor #46 (Angele O'Conner Hall)—the site of the Native Daughters of the Golden West—on Main Street with remarkable art.
Nancy Macomber paintings are influenced by her long experience as a quilter. She will join 18 artists to exhibit her art work at the art show in downtown Murphys June 7 through June 16.
Larisa Stevenson will show her delicate pottery and whimsical ceramic sculptures along with 18 other artists Ruby Parlor #46 (Angele O'Conner Hall) in downtown Murphys June 7 through June 16.
Pile Burning Continues on Mi-Wok/Summit Ranger District

Sonora, CA...With pile burning operations nearly complete in the Cedar Ridge area, crews with the Stanislaus National Forest’s Mi-Wok/Summit Ranger District will turn their attention to other locations on the corridor. Over the next few days, fire crews will begin pile burning operations in the Sandbar Flat Campground as well as the Crandall OHV area.

San Andreas, CA...We would like to introduce SHILOH, a handsome black and white tuxedo who is about a year old. He is at the shelter after being rescued from a home with unhealthy living conditions. Shiloh is our “shy boy.” But after lots of loving attention from shelter volunteers and staff, he is finally coming out of his shell. He is super sweet and gentle and has a calm, quiet personality. His adopter should expect it to take him a while to adjust to changes in a new environment. When Shiloh gets to know you, he is quite loving and can be very playful, especially with a toy on a cat wand. The white whiskers are his trademark.

CCWD Secures an Additional $11.2 Million in Federal Funding

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Water District (CCWD) secured $11.2 million from the Army Corps of Engineers (Army Corps) in the 2024 federal budget to construct the enhancement of the Copper Cove Wastewater Treatment Plant and Reclamation Facility. The funds are part of the Section 219 Environmental Infrastructure program run by the Army Corps, which released its Fiscal Year 2024 work plan this week. CCWD’s project is the largest Section 219 Environmental Infrastructure funding allocation to a project in California and the third-largest allocation nationwide in 2024.
