You Just Can’t Miss at the First-Ever “Swinging on a Star” Golf Outing to Benefit Youth Mentoring La Contenta Golf Club, Valley Springs September 21, 2012

Valley Springs, CA...The Calaveras Mentoring Foundation is proud to present the first-ever “Swinging on a Star” Golf Outing Fundraiser on Friday, September 21, 2012 at La Contenta Golf Club, 1653 Highway 26, Valley Springs. For further information and to sign up as a golfer or sponsor, call (209) 736-7706 (please leave a message) or download a brochure and registration form at www.calaverasmentoring.org.

“Swinging on a Star” will include everyone’s favorite tournament features -- putting contest, hole-in-one contest for $10,000, and closest-to-the-pin. Mentors and mentees from the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program will join the fun and golf along with community members. Golfing starts at noon (putting contest at 10:30am) and will be followed in the late afternoon by a pre-dinner reception. The evening concludes with dinner, awards, a live auction, and chances to win wonderful raffle prizes.

Just $95 per player includes golfing, cart, gift, awards, and dinner. For $25, supporters can attend the dinner, the awards to honor the day’s winners, and the raffle and live auction.

“We have lots of teams signed up already and can happily accommodate many more,” said Paul Mundy, “Swinging on a Star” chairperson. “Our inaugural event offers something for everyone, with a big focus on fun for newer golfers as well. Even if you don’t golf, you can join us for dinner. It’s a great way to show your support for the Mentoring Program!”

The Calaveras Mentoring Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness and funds for youth mentoring in Calaveras County. “Swinging on a Star” is the major fundraising event for 2012 for the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program.
