Washington, DC...Legislation to honor Corporal Michael D. Anderson Jr. passed the United States House of Representatives yesterday. The bill, H.R. 1555, introduced by Rep. McClintock (CA-05), will designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 2300 Sylvan Avenue in Modesto, California, as the "Corporal Michael D. Anderson Jr. Post Office Building”.

Suspect Arrested for Possession of Fentanyl and Possession of Dangerous Weapons

Valley Springs, CA...On May 29, 2024, at about 10:00 PM, deputies were conducting an extra patrol of the Valley Springs area when they observed suspect John Robert Blackwell, 37, of Stockton, parked at a gas station located in the 100 block of Highway 26. Deputies approached suspect Blackwell regarding two felony warrants issued out of the Superior Court of Sacramento County. Suspect Blackwell was contacted and placed under arrest for the warrants without incident.

My wonderful father, Dr. Jay Grimstead peacefully entered paradise. He's now blowin' his trumpet in Gabriel's band!  His was a life well lived to the fullest. If you knew the man, please try to join us for a celebration of his life on Wednesday, June 12th at the Bret Harte Theater in Angels Camp, Cailfornia. 9:30am for a viewing; 11am service then a 3pm graveside ceremony.

Arnold, CA...California State Parks, in cooperation with CAL FIRE, plans to conduct prescribed burning at Calaveras Big Trees State Park (SP) in June. Work may begin as soon as June 3, and burning will take 3 to 5 days. If weather, air quality, or vegetation conditions are not conducive for burning or smoke dispersal, State Parks will reschedule the treatment.
