Take Your Bikes, Poles and Gear and Head to Sourgrass / Boards Crossing ~By John Hamilton

Dorrington, CA...Calaveras County is filled with loads of special places and the Boards Crossing / Sourgrass Area is definitely one of them. When heading up Hwy 4 take a right when you get to the Dorrington Hotel and head 3-4 miles down to the Stanislaus River. A great stop awaits you that has something for everyone,. Camping, Picnicking, Hiking, Fishing, 4x4 Trails, Mountain Biking and low traffic paved roads to test your climbing skills on your road bike...

There's My Guy!!(sorry John, I had to chime in:)

My son Granger and I went out there a couple of days ago to have a look. It was gorgeous with plenty of white water heading down the river. First we cycled some gravel single track trails along the river and through the Sawgrass Campground. We then took the much more challenging 4wd trail Eastbound on the South side of the river. This trail has some very technical rocky sections, shallow water sections and wide open flat cruising as well.

All in all you can't go wrong with an excursion to Boards Crossing. It is perfect for locals to take lunch or dinner down to the river and enjoy the scenery of visitors to spend a few days.
