Majors at Black Creek Today!~by Charity Maness
Copperopolis, CA....It was the Yankees vs the White Sox Today at Blackcreek Park, the Score…16/2. The Calaveras American Little League Yankees and the White Sox took the field today in high spirits after a weekend of frog jump fun. The Yankees from Angels Camp sponsored by Teichert Construction with a 1/6 record came ready to play. The White Sox from Angels Camp and Copperopolis sponsored by Jackson Insurance with a 4/4 record showed spirit. The pitching was fast and furious while the batter’s showed a sharp eye for just the right pitch. Outfield was kept busy with some fly balls, while the infield ran for plenty of grounders....
Pitcher Levi Rollings for the White Sox. What an arm!
What drives a young man or woman to this sport is obvious; the action, the anticipation, and the adrenalin rush. The parents on the guidelines would cheer readily for a good play made by either team. The kids happily absorbing the praise. One parent explained that though it was the majors the coaches still required each player to play “multiple positions” so that they could truly learn the game. She went on to explain that the coach of the White Sox, Nick Allan’s, philosophy is that “every player plays…every game.”
The Majors consist of a coed group of players between the ages of 10 and 12. Practice this year started in early April and the games will conclude in late June. For game dates and times, or information on Calaveras American Little League go to http://www.calaverasamericanlittleleague.com/
