19 Bret Harte Students Competed for Cash And Scholarships!
19 Bret Harte High School Students competed for cash and scholarships in the school’s first ever Language and Literature Bowl Wednesday night. The event was sponsored by the school’s Renaissance Program and facilitated by members of the English department. Teachers Derek Oliver, Amber Pappe, and Debbie O’Shea served as event hosts. Kaylee Huey, a Senior at Bret Harte and a Renaissance student coordinator organized the event....

Wes Sagewalker beat out fellow classmates Gerardo Montoya, Aiko Gonzalez, Mirriah Losik and Jessica Brodsky in the 12th grade competition, while Ryan Evans bested Tanner Smith, Alex Stoeber, Freddie Ziepfel and Ashlynn Hall at the Junior level. Sophomore Drew Haymond was victorious over Benjamin Howard, Dylan ArceJaeger, Braden Duivenvoorde and Tristan Jones. Stephanie Vistnes took top Freshman honors over Dakota Morlan, Brad Locklin and Patrick Mandell.
The winner at each grade level received $100.00 in gold coins and will earn a $300.00 scholarship upon graduation.
Bret Harte High School’s Renaissance is a student-run program that rewards academic achievement and promotes scholastic effort.
