Snap’s Coffee House features Twisted Oak Winery~by Charity Maness
While some would say, “Wine in a coffee shop?” Others embrace the idea with wild abandon. Others like Randy and Susan Bresee, owner’s of Snaps in Copperopolis. Its not just a place to grab an incredibly delicious cup of coffee in the morning, smoothies in the afternoon along with a hot sandwiches or pastries, it’s also the best place in Copper to sample wines from a variety of local vinters. Wines are served by the glass and can be enjoyed on the outside patio in front of the large stone fireplace surrounded by music from the square......

Friday evening Snap’s highlighted Twisted Oak Winery of Vallecito. Owner Jeff Stai, previously an electronic engineer, began Twisted Oak in 2001 with his first vintage making its debut in 2002. Jeff admits that he chose to begin his adventure into wine making during “a moment of extreme temporary insanity.” Thanks to that insanity, our palates have been able to savor and enjoy the many varieties of Jeff’s wines. If you have not heard of them, you should really seek them out. With tongue in cheek labels, and somewhat quirky marketing, this winery is not to be mistaken as a silly fly by night winery, they take the art of wine making very seriously. One sip of their Viogner and you will be sold.
As Dan Burton of Copperopolis Holding Company entertained the many guest’s with his soothing hypnotic voice accompanied only by his acoustic guitar, the people sampled the five selected varieties of wine from Twisted Oak Winery and hors d’oevres created by Panini’s.
The evening’s samplings poured by hostess Amy Young included: 2008 Voigner, 2006 *%#&@! Rhone Blend (affectionately referred to as potty mouth rhone), 2005 Tempranillo, 2006 Murgatroyd Blend (yes, as in heavens to…), and last but certainly not least 2006 Petite Syrah.
