A Message From Supervisor and Candidate Russ Thomas. Paid Advertisment

Copperopolis, CA...I want to extend a sincere Thank You to everyone who tuned in and watched the Thomas vs. Spellman debate on thepinetree.net last Monday, September 27th. These debates offer voters a chance to compare the candidates on their judgments, their opinions, and their policy preferences. I appreciate very much the encouragement and support that I have received from so many people, many of whom I’ve not yet met. To everyone who has taken the time to offer his or her thoughts to me, thank you very much...

One of the characteristics of good leadership is to tell the truth, even when it hurts. My opponent seems scripted and rehearsed, and unwilling to directly discuss what we need to do to get this County’s economy moving again.

Unfortunately, instead of talking about what he will do to address the problems people are facing in D5 and Calaveras County –like foreclosures and unemployment, inadequate roads and crumbling bridges, and a lack of water and waste-water infrastructure, my opponent only wants to discuss his personal qualities.

In the weeks ahead, voters will have a chance to judge for themselves about the honesty and integrity of both myself and my opponent. During the next five weeks, I hope that voters take the time to think about what is in their own best interest going forward.

Which of the two candidates is more committed to getting things done? Which of the two candidates is better prepared – through experience, judgment, and understanding of the issues – to be the most effective in attacking our problems? Which of the two candidates will work the hardest for our prosperity, and not just mouth conflicting slogans that don’t get things done in the real world?

I believe with all my heart that I am the candidate that can do the best job working for the citizens of District 5.

There is a lot at stake in this election, and I need your help.

Sincerely,

Russ Thomas
