Women Dedicated to Fitness Launch Grand Opening of "Pace Yourself" Week of January 17~21!

Angels Camp, CA...The newest circuit training gym in Angels Camp – Pace Yourself, Inc. -- launches its Grand Opening, January 17th~21st. “We’ve been operating since November, but we thought it’s time to really introduce ourselves to those who want good health and a fit body,” said Pace Yourself President Pat Bourassa. Bourassa, a resident of the Circle XX (west of Angels Camp), is one of nine Calaveras County women who pooled their money and effort to open Pace Yourself, Inc.....

Be Sure to Stop By and Check Them Out! Conveniently Located on Hwy 49 Across from Bret Harte.

She said during the Grand Opening, the women will be demonstrating the exercise machines for anyone who stops by. Prizes drawings will be held daily, and delicious and healthy refreshments will be available for all.

Located at 354 S. Main Street, across the road from Bret Harte High School, Pace Yourself is open weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday hours are 8 to 11 a.m.

“And anyone who becomes a Pace member during our Grand Opening, will not have to pay a registration fee ($49),” she said.

Three-month, six-month and 12-month memberships are available, she said.

Angels Camp resident Donna Griffin, another Pace Yourself owner, said, “When Curves closed in Angels Camp last September, it was obvious that if we wanted to maintain good health and keep our weekly exercise routine going, we’d have to take matters into our own hands.”

The nine local women have incorporated, bought top-of-the-line circuit exercise equipment, and operate their gym with a can-do spirit that includes lots of friendliness and encouraging support for exercisers.

Murphys resident and paralegal, Karen Zaccheo, another Pace owner, said, “It is well documented that circuit exercise increases fitness and good health. Many of our members have been encouraged by their doctors to exercise here regularly to maintain bone health and complete body fitness.”

Success stories

Murphys resident Joe Rigsby saw a newspaper story about Pace Yourself and urged his wife, Gail, to check out the new gym on Main Street in Angels Camp.

“I’d been wanting to exercise but had been too lazy about it,” she said. “I came in to Pace on a Saturday and liked what I saw. I phoned Joe and told him what it cost and he said, ‘I’m fine with that.’ So I joined.”

She started exercising the following Monday (Nov. 8) and within a month, saw significant improvement.

“I lost seven and a quarter inches in one months’ time,” Gail said. “And it’s all because of the exercise. If I hadn’t been exercising, I wouldn’t have lost that.”

She was so enthusiastic, that she talked to her co-worker at El Dorado Bank, Norma Scott, and Norma also joined Pace.

“I joined because I could see the results. I’ve lost two and a quarter inches in a little more than a month,” Norma Scott said. “And we can come after work and exercise together until 7 p.m. that’s very good. It works with our schedule.”

The two women, like other Pace members, are sharing their good news with friends.

“And last week we went shopping and bought new clothes,” said Rigsby with a smile.

Evenings at Pace, Inc. are open to couples. Men and women are welcome to come enjoy the circuit exercise. Evening managers Maureen and Tony Serra assist beginners and encourage all exercise enthusiasts.
