New Melones, CA....The Bureau of Reclamation announces that renovations are scheduled to begin January 31, 2011, at the New Melones Lake Visitor Center and Museum to improve accessibility and bring the facility into further compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act and the Architectural Barriers Act. The New Melones Lake Visitor Center and Museum will be closed to the public during the renovation from Monday, January 31, 2011, through completion of the work, anticipated in April 2011. Some of the enhancements include improved walkways, parking, entry ways, lighting, signage and a fire alarm system. These improvement projects are made possible by funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009...........
The New Melones Lake Administration Office, adjacent to the Visitor Center, will continue to be open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Maps and information are available, and Interagency and New Melones Lake annual day use and boat launch passes will continue to be sold in the Administration Office.
