Mountain Adventure Seminar October Update...

Bear Valley, CA...Waking up this morning at 7AM in the dark was a blunt reminder that winter is quickly coming. I wish I could report that all the outdoor projects are completed and I am simply sipping coffee watching the sunrise. The truth is I appear less prepared for winter than I did a week ago....

Last weekend was reserved for "winter-readiness". This included moving the recently delivered 3 tons of wood pellets onto the porch. The weekend project was suddenly sidetracked when we questioned the integrity of the porch. Further inquiry determined the deck was not installed properly in the first place. Now, 5 days later, the deck is securely bolted to the house, the yard is a mess and the pellets are still in the driveway. Regardless of this dis-sheveled appearance, I feel psyched and more prepared for a big winter than ever before. Cheers, Aaron.

Avalanche Courses Updated & Alumni Special

MAS Avalanche Education
Winter will arrive as scheduled, typically 2 days before most people complete their summer outdoor projects! So in anticipation of another bountiful season of snow the MAS Avalanche Education Programs have been updated and posted on the website.

Avalanche Alumni Special: All MAS avalanche school alumni, including non-MAS AIARE course graduates, now save 10% on continuing education courses such as the Level I Refresher and AIARE Level II, plus MAS Backcountry, Sidecountry and Mountaineering programs. (Promo code - AIARE)

Bear Valley Adventure Ski Team
Youth Ski Adventure TeamA new and exciting youth ski program has been developed by MAS and Bear Valley which broadens the horizon for advanced and expert skiers between the ages of 14-17 to include "sidecountry" terrain.

Over 6 weekends team members learn skills to responsibly venture outside traditional ski area boundaries. MAS strives to develop "all mountain" skiers who seek adventure while respecting the rules. The Bear Tracker Snowcat will be used in addition to excursions into the coveted "Zones" terrain to put the team's new skills into practice.
