Bear Valley's Nick Dodov the Second Skier to Perish in Alaska Avalanche ~By John Hamilton

Bear Valley, CA...BV took another shot to the heart this morning with the news that a second member of heli-skiing group has died. The first, ski guide Robert Liberman, 35 from Telluride, Colorado died at the scene on Tuesday. Nick Dodov, 26 who was raised in Bear Valley and his parents still live here locally. He attended the Bear Valley School and is very well known in the tight Bear Valley Community...

He was wearing an avalanche beacon and was experienced and prepared for the conditions. Both men were buried under 7-8 feet of snow. Some accounts had them submerged for 15 minutes or so.

He was transported to Seattle in critical condition where he later passed away.

The last couple of years have seen the passing of several people who were part of the fabric of this small mountain village. More to follow...
