Two-Day Felting Workshop with Melissa Arnold Offered in Mokelumne Hill
Mokelumne Hill, CA...Melissa Arnold, a textile designer who’s an innovator of new ideas and fearless experimentation, will share her knowledge of working with wool fibers and the ancient process of felting at a two-day workshop at Petroglyphe Gallery in Mokelumne Hill. Sign-ups have begun for this first-come, first-get-to-go event. ....
On Saturday, March 31, and Sunday, April 1, the two-day basic felting workshop, from 9:00 am to 4:40 pm, will include learning to create a number of felted samples using different techniques that can be employed in making a scarf. The first day will end with a scarf layout. The second day, students will felt their scarves, experimenting with some of the techniques learned from day one. Arnold says, “come with a willingness to play and experiment, and plan to have fun.”
Melissa Arnold has been working with textiles for over 30 years. She learned the art of shibori and indigo dyeing from the Temari Center for Asian Arts. She is currently collaborating with Fashion Designer Catherine Bacon, producing textiles for her spring and fall collections. She has won numerous awards, including a Best of Show award from Wearable Expressions, an International Art to Wear Juried show.
