Hey Good People! Expect possible delays for openings on the Mtn this morning and Lift Operations due to snowfall. 7" fell overnight and 16" for the storm total so far in the last 24hrs!!!!! Today as the storm tapers it's 1st wave we could pick up another 1-2" and then see snow showery weather into Sunday night when things then ramp back up! The high for today will be around 33F with SW winds from 6-9 mph. Tonight we'll see 27F as the low with moderate winds from 9-13 with gusts to 20mph. Sunday should remain mostly cloudy but by the late afternoon the next wave arrives Sunday night with 4-8" expected overnight with a possible element of rain/snow mix from around 4am to 10am then back to full on snow with 7-11" possible on Monday and 5-9" on Monday night! Continued snowfall will be in effect all week long and into the following weekend. Someone's been talking to Ullr............ Come up to Bear Valley and experience our local "Pure Mtn Fun" ethos and stay tuned..........

Yosemite National Park, CA...The Big Oak Flat Road in Yosemite National Park (Hwy 120) will be closed daily from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am between Crane Flat and Foresta due to storm-related road damage. These closures will remain in effect from Friday, February 17, 2017 until at least Tuesday, February 21, 2017. Visitors entering Yosemite from the Big Oak Flat entrance will not have access to Yosemite Valley during the closure hours. Due to the condition of the road, it is not safe for nighttime vehicular travel.

Columbia, CA...On 2-14-17, a Private Investigator from southern California contacted the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office with information that he had been working with a family from the state of Washington to locate their 17 year old runaway daughter. The girl’s location was traced to the Columbia area in Tuolumne County. A deputy found indications that the juvenile was believed to be with a 21 year old man named Fabian Rivera. The family of the juvenile believed she was coerced to leave with Rivera or she was taken against her will.

High School Diploma Presented To Tuolumne County Jail Inmate

Sonora, CA...Today we were able to witness the first inmate at the Tuolumne County Jail to be presented a High School Diploma from an accredited school through the Superintendent of Schools Adult Education and Jail Educational Services. An independent study teacher from the County Superintendent of Schools reviews records of the individual and evaluates what requirements and units are needed to recieve completion for a diploma. The teacher provides tutoring to prepare the the individual for testing and educational counseling. The teacher meets with the individual two to three times a week for instruction and assigns homework that is to be completed throughout the week. San Andreas,CA...The Calaveras Unified School District is holding a regular Board Of Trustees Meeting on Tuesday, February 21st at 5:00 p.m. On the agenda is the price increase for paid school lunches. School Program Regulations requires School Food Authorities participating in the National School Lunch Program to ensure sufficient funds are provided to the nonprofit school food service account for meals served to students not eligible for free or reduced price meals. There are two ways to meet this requirement: either through the prices charged for “paid” meals or through other non-Federal sources provided to the nonprofit school food service account.

Columbia, CA...On Tuesday February 14th, a Private Investigator from southern California contacted the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office with information that he had been working with a family member from the state of Washington to locate their 17 year old runaway daughter. The girl’s location was traced to the Columbia area in Tuolumne County. A deputy found indications that the juvenile was believed to be with a 21 year old man named Fabian Rivera. The family of the juvenile believed she was coerced to leave with Rivera or she was taken against her will.

U.O.P. Study Finds Cannabis Industry To Be Largest Industry In Calaveras

Stockton, CA...Legal Cannabis Totals 19% of Calaveras Economy and 21% of Local Jobs, Dwarfing All Other Industries. The University of the Pacific Center for Business and Policy Research released a comprehensive study of the impact of the cannabis industry in Calaveras. The study finds the total direct and indirect economic impact of the legal cannabis industry to be $339.2 million per year, or 19% of the total local Gross Regional Product (GRP), and contributes 3,400 jobs, or 21% of the total local workforce. The direct economic output of legal cannabis, $251 million, is by far the largest industry in Calaveras. To put this in perspective the total economic output of all other agricultural commodities combined in Calaveras totals $28 million. The next largest industry in Calaveras, Hospitality (which includes Tourism, Lodging, Restaurants and others), has a direct economic output of $167.5 million.
