Red Hat Ladies Host Christmas in July For The Food Bank

Angels Camp, California – July 26, 2012— The local chapters of the Red Hat Ladies hosted their “Christmas in July” luncheon at Utica Park on Thursday, July 26th benefiting The Resource Connection Food Bank. The Red Hat Ladies local got together and donated over 646 pounds of food and over 200 pounds of assorted items including toys for Santa’s Express The items were brought to the luncheon at Utica Park and presented to the Food Bank. On top of that, they had a silent auction and raised over $500 to purchase food in bulk for the Food Bank....





“This is a wonderful example of our community coming together to support our local families in need”, said Jeannie Hayward, Director at the Food Bank. “It’s just awesome to see the Red Hat Ladies local chapters partnering with us in such a creative and unique way. This is a great event with a lot of very fun Red Hatters singing Christmas Carols in July! A big “Thank You” from the Food Bank to all of the Red Hat Ladies who participated!”

The Resource Connection is a community-based non-profit organization established in 1980 to meet the needs of children and families and promotes programs in nutrition, prevention/intervention and children and families in Amador and Calaveras Counties.

The Resource Connection’s mission is:
“Engaging Families, Empowering Communities and Enriching Lives”

Today the Resource Connection has a dedicated community Board and a professional staff of approximately 125 people. Current programs include: The Resource Connection Food Bank, Early Childhood Programs, WIC (Women, Infants and Children), Calaveras Crisis Center and Childcare Resource and Referral.
