Posted by: thepinetree on 05/22/2016 05:36 PM
Frogtown, USA….The Morgan Kitchell of the famous Frog Jumping Kitchell family takes the 2016 Calaveras County International Frog Jump Championships. The Kitchell family has been on a roll the last few years. Mother Laura Kitchell started the roll then Riley Kitchell took top honors twice and now his wife Morgan Kitchell in 2016. Several of the frogs the Kitchell family jumped this year were even from ponds in the Butte Fire burn area. We added a series of shots of the winning jump. They show the commitment it takes to jockey a frog to greatness. If you click on each photo you can open a full sized image. Check out the faces of those at the judging table when they knew this jump was special.

Posted by: thepinetree on 05/21/2016 03:30 AM
Washington, DC...Hi everybody. Last summer, I got a letter from a woman named Elizabeth Paredes from Tucson, Arizona. But because of outdated overtime regulations, she doesn’t have to be paid a dime of overtime. She wrote: “It’s not easy work and requires a lot of time away from my son… at times I find [it's] not worth it.”

Traffic Update...Rear Ender Slows Traffic On Hwy 49

Posted by: thepinetree on 05/18/2016 02:22 PM
Angels Camp, CA...On May 18, 2016, at approximately 0945 hours, a Valley Springs man was driving his Chevrolet southbound on SR-49 north of Fourth Crossing Road at approximately 40 MPH. A Rail Road Flat woman was driving her Chevrolet, and a Valley Springs man was driving his Ford in the same direction, directly in front of the first vehicle. They stopped their vehicles just north of Fourth Crossing in order to allow a vehicle to turn left from SR-49 onto Fourth Crossing Road. He attempted to stop his vehicle, but was unable to stop in time to avoid a collision. The front of vehicle one collided with the rear of vehicle two. The force of that collision caused the front of vehicle two to collide with the rear of vehicle three. After the collision, all vehicles were removed from the roadway. The Rail Road Flat woman was transported from the scene by ambulance to Mark Twain Medical Center. She was subsequently flown by helicopter to Memorial Medical Center Modesto for treatment of minor injuries.

Donald Trump Releases List Of Potential Supreme Court Nominees

Posted by: thepinetree on 05/18/2016 01:19 PM
New York, NY...Today Donald J. Trump released the much-anticipated list of people he would consider as potential replacements for Justice Scalia at the United States Supreme Court. This list was compiled, first and foremost, based on constitutional principles, with input from highly respected conservatives and Republican Party leadership. Mr. Trump stated, “Justice Scalia was a remarkable person and a brilliant Supreme Court Justice. His career was defined by his reverence for the Constitution and his legacy of protecting Americans’ most cherished freedoms. He was a Justice who did not believe in legislating from the bench and he is a person whom I held in the highest regard and will always greatly respect his intelligence and conviction to uphold the Constitution of our country. The following list of potential Supreme Court justices is representative of the kind of constitutional principles I value and, as President, I plan to use this list as a guide to nominate our next United States Supreme Court Justices.”
