Sonora, CA...Sonora Regional Medical Center was recently approved to expand its Heart and Vascular service line by offering Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (ICD) and Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Defibrillator (CRT-D) procedures in its cardiac catheterization lab. Arnold, CA...In an effort to raise safety and conservation awareness, California’s first hunter education law was enacted in 1954. California requires hunter education training for those who have never held a California hunting license, who do not have a hunter education certificate, or who do not have a hunting license from another state or province issued within the past two years. Students may choose between two class format options. Classes are offered throughout the State by more than 1,000 certified volunteer instructors, all dedicated to keeping hunting safe, ethical, and available to all Californians.

Valley Springs, CA...Margaret Louise Benfante, born July 30, 1947, in Bremerton, Washington, died at the age 69 years old, 3371 Brooks Lane Valley Springs, CA on January 17, 2017 from Metastatic Breast Cancer. After 31 years of working, Maggie retired in 2013 from her job as an electro/mechanical drafter and technical illustrator. Maggie held a degree in Technical Illustration with a certificate in drafting. At the age of nine, drawing horses became a substitute for not having a horse of her own. Following the drawing of horses, she began painting them oil on canvas. In 2009 she began fulfilling her lifelong dream of casting bronze.

Sonora, CA...On Sunday, February 19th around 2:45 PM, Deputy Sandelin conducted a traffic stop on Quail Mine Road near Big Hill Road in Sonora. The blue 1998 VW Passat displayed a 2017 registration sticker that appeared to be tampered with. DMV records confirmed the vehicle’s registration to have been expired since 2015. The driver, 43 year old Hubbard Wilson, was driving on a suspended driver’s license, had no proof of insurance, had expired vehicle registration, and displayed a false registration tag on the vehicle.

Weekend Storm Activity Impacts Calaveras County Roads

San Andreas, CA...The weekend storm activity has impacted all Calaveras County roads to some degree. Pettinger Road is closed at Messing Rd and Highway 12. Use Messing Rd as an alternate route. Many roads are experiencing flooding and mud slides. The National Weather Service is forecasting the following for late today into Wednesday.

Bear Valley, CA...Delays are in effect for the Cub and Super Cub chairs as rimming has frozen things. The backside-Polar Express and Pooh Chairs are offline today as well as the Lower Mtn-Grizz Chair. The Kuma should open by 9:15am or so so please "Bear" with us as we recover today and look for the backside and the lower Mtn to come back online tomorrow with some delays due to Avalanche Control. This year has been epic from an operational standpoint which is pretty much the standard for all resorts in the Nor Cal/Central Cal areas.
