Businesses in Angels Camp Fill with Water in Sunday Flooding ~By John Hamilton

Angels Camp, CA...As the rains came down on Sunday the amount of water flowing down Hwy 49 in Historic Downtown Angels Camp turned from a small stream to a torrent that overwhelmed the storm drains along the way. Nellie Lou's Antiques, Aeolion Harp, Angels Creek Cafe, Stories in Stone and bore the brunt of the deluge. Owners of Nellie Lou's had already torn out their carpets and were hard at work drying their floors this afternoon. Stories in Stone across the street had a river of water coming into their building from their back wall....

Additional Photos and Video Enclosed...

Aeolion was already back open and felt fortunate that most of their goods were up off the floor. Nellie Lou's was not so lucky as because of the shape of the sidewalk they had a stream flow directly into their business. Still unknown is the extent of the damage to the basements of businesses including Angels Creek and Sidewinders.

(Updated...Tasha Unninayar just let us know that Sidwinders did not incur any damage but they did help out with their neighbors efforts stem the water inflows there)

Stories in Stones' Pam Shoemaker shot video of the torrent coming down Main Street and and also the separate stream coming into their store.

It looks like and we hope that the quick work by the business owner minimized the long term damage.
