Bret Harte Is Fleet in the Pool This Year ~Photos By Jeff Rasmussen
Angels Camp, CA...The Bret Harte Swim Team is having a great year and looking forward to the MLL League Championships this Friday. We would like to thank Jeff Rasmussen for sending us some shots form a couple of their meets. It has taken us a bit longer to get them posted because we wanted to post them in the higher resolution format that they were sent in. We did so and now we will upload the shots we shoot at events in larger sizes as well. When you are in a photo album you will see a little icon above the photo if it is available in higher resolution suitable for a screen saver or printing. Enclosed are the meet updates from the last two meets from Coach Lauren Gerber as well....

Bret Harte vs. Linden - 4/17/13
Girls: BH 86 Linden 84
Boys: BH96 Linden 74
What a GREAT MEET! Our kids swam really well and it was because the
competition was so good. Our boys always swim well when they are
challenged and Linden has some great swimmers. We were able to grab
firsts in the first four events, when each race was very very close, and
that carried us through the rest of the meet. All three relays took
firsts as well.
The girls meet was the nail biter. Our girls swam hard to the bitter
end, which is what we've learned to do when swimming against Linden.
Freshman Kaitlyn McCratic was able to get our only two first place
finishes in the individual events, in the 200 and 100 freestyle; and the
girls 200 free relay (Erika Rasmussen, Riley Preston, Shelby Warner, &
Kaitlyn McCratic) took first which helped tremendously with points for
the win. This was a great example of what is so great about high school
swimming. Every single one of our swimmers took part in that win, every
2nd and 3rd and 4th place finish was just as important as the rest. Bret
Harte earned their win and we could not be prouder of these athletes.
We are now focused on what should be a great showdown meet this Friday,
the Mother Lode League Championship Meet at the Bret Harte Aquatic
Center. Preliminaries start at 9:00 am and Finals start at 1:00.
Bret Harte vs. Calaveras
GIRLS: BH 117 Calaveras 51
BOYS: BH 93 Calaveras 77
Bret Harte swam well today, with three additional section qualifying times. The girls 200 medley relay swam a qualifying time of 2.10:00 with Bethanni Riedel swimming the backstroke, Erika Rasmussen swimming the breastroke, Riley Preston swimming butterfly and Haley Warner anchoring with the freestyle. The boys 200 medley relay swam a qualifying time as well today with a 1.52:64, lead by Jacob Cardiel in the backstroke, Nathaniel Johnson in the breastroke, Brennan Thompson swimming butterfly and Joey Calhoun in freestyle. The boys also swam a qualifying time in the 200 free relay with a time of 1.38:96 (Jacob Cardiel, Nathaniel Johnson, Jordan Johnson, and Joey Calhoun).
Calaveras boys gave us a challenge today; they have some great freestyle sprinters and we are looking forward to the showdown at our League championship meet next Friday.
