Arts of Bear Valley Summer Show 2013

Bear Valley, CA...Arts of Bear Valley is thrilled to return for its 22 annual summer art show and sale to be held in the Perry Walther Building next to the Bear Valley Music Festival tent. Opening day of the show was Friday, July 26,at 5:00 pm in conjunction with the first concert of the season. Admission to the all new art show is free and one or more of the artists will be on hand to answer questions about the artwork. The show will be open regularly at 11 am through concert intermissions. Closing day is August 11 following the concert.





A reception open to the public will be held on Saturday, July 27, from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm preceding the music festival concert. The artists host the event and are pleased to discuss their work and technique with guests. Hors d’oeuvres will be served.

A raffle of four works donated by artists from the group will be held on the last day of the show. Tickets will be available for purchase during all hours the show is open. This year’s contributors are Nancy Calhoun, Charlotte Mahood, Nancy Macomber and Anne Saunders. All proceeds from the raffle go to the Bear Valley Music Festival.

Arts of Bear Valley is comprised of over 30 artists. It originated in Bear Valley with a small group of local artists and currently has members from all parts of Calaveras County. Their works have won numerous awards, hung in museums and been collected by art lovers and published worldwide.

Artwork is juried for quality and technique. This year’s juror is well-known oil painter, Leslie Hurst, a graduate of Washington State University known for her open and contemplative expressionist painting.

Member artists will help with the festivals Children’s Craft Day on Saturday, August 3 at 9:30 am before the family concert and will conduct an Art Adventures Day on Thursday, August 8. The first session at 11 am will be a painting project and the second session at 2 pm will be making robot sculptures.

Arts of Bear Valley participates in co sponsorship of Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee professional art show with Golden Palette Art Association, Arts in Education program in Calaveras County and it funds grants to the Calaveras County Arts Council for advanced education.

The Arts of Bear Valley show and sale at Calaveras Big Trees State Park opens August 15 and runs through Labor Day, September 2 in the Jack Knight Memorial Hall with hours 10 am to 4 pm daily.
