Rim Fire Ranchers Relief Benefit November 23rd

Sonora, CA...For decades, the natural water sources and abundant vegetation of Stanislaus National Forest have served as ideal grazing land for grass-fed cattle in the summer months. About 4,000 cows were ranging there when the Rim Fire ignited August 17. After burning 257,314 acres the Rim Fire is now fully contained over two months after it was ignited. There were eleven homes, three commercial properties and 98 outbuilding destroyed in the flames. Miles of fencing destroyed and many of the Ranchers have over 100 head each confirmed dead and even more believed to be dead, and the near future of grazing in the forest up in the air, the cattle industry is another victim of the massive blaze on the west edge of Yosemite.

Ranchers continue to the search for what's left of their herds - dead, wounded or unscathed.

Due to the devastation created by the Rim Fire to ranchers, Country Cowboy Church has organized a benefit for ranchers who have suffered loss of livestock, fences, cabins, outbuildings and grazing ground from the Rim Fire. The "Rim Fire Ranchers Relief" boasts a BBQ Tri-tip and chicken dinner, raffle, live auction and entertainment by the Sierra Mountain Band. The event will be held at 5 PM Saturday, November 23rd in the John Muir Building at the Tuolumne County Fairgrounds.

Tickets for the event are $30.00 per person and can be purchased at Banks Glass, Bolton Feed, Hurst Ranch Feed & Fencing, Let’R Buck Western Wear, Pac-N-Copy (In the Junction), Sonora Feed & Supply, Tractor Supply Company, Tuolumne County Visitors Bureau, Vacation Station or online at www.countrycowboychurch.com

Donations of raffle and live auction items are tax deductible. If you would like to donate an item for the raffle or live auction please contact Country Cowboy Church at 209-588-1056.
