Winterfest Kicks Off The 2013-2014 Season in Bear Valley

Bear Valley, CA...Bear Valley’s annual WinterFest Celebration promises fun for all ages on Thursday November 28th, Friday, November 29 and Saturday, November 30, 2013. As the businesses of Bear Valley throw open their doors for the upcoming winter season, be sure to make the rounds and see what’s new for the winter ahead!...




Thursday, November 28:

Let Chef Henry prepare your thanksgiving feast at the Creekside Dining Room. Each guest will enjoy a delicious selection of items will be offered to design the perfect four course Thanksgiving Dinner. Choice of entrees include Free Range Roasted Turkey, Prime Rib or Salmon. Dinner will be served from 2pm-9pm (reservations required), please call 209-753-2327
Friday, November 29:

4:30 pm to 8:30 pm – Bear Valley Real Estate hosts an Open House replete with wine, appetizers and desserts. Join the BVRE team in their transformed winter wonderland between 4:30 pm and 8:30pm. All are welcome! For more information, please call 209.753.2334.

8:00 pm – End the evening attending the Winter Wildlands Alliance Back Country Film Festival. Presented by Mountain Adventure Seminars and Bear Valley Mountain and held at the Bear Valley Lodge, the festival’s short films celebrate the human-powered experience and will surely whet your appetite for your own brand of outdoor, winter fun! Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under. Each paid entry to the film that brings a canned food item, will also receive a free restricted lift ticket for Bear Valley Mountain . Saturday, November 30:

9 am to 12 noon – No matter the conditions, Bear Valley Mountain is open! Hit the slopes running in the Polar Dash 5K and Kids’ Fun Run. Registration is $10 for adults, $5 for children 17 and under and includes an event t-shirt and breakfast. Show your creativity and come in costume! Prizes for best costumes will be awarded. Registration opens at 9 am; Run begins at 10 am. Spectators are invited to ride Kuma Chair ($10/trip; up only, must hike down), eat breakfast ($10/adults, $5/children 12 and under), shop at Reba Sports and purchase or pick up your season pass. If winter conditions prevail, the morning’s events could even include skiing! Click here for more info!

9 am to 5 pm – Alpine Snowmobile Center invites you to join them for hot dogs, potato salad, apple cider and a sneak peek into another great snowmobiling season.

10am to 5pm – Say hello to the friendly faces of Bear Valley Snowmobile and check out the 2013-14 line of equipment and apparel!

11 am to 5 pm – And you thought your skis were old? Peruse the displays at the Ebbetts Pass Historical Association while enjoying freshly-baked treats. Inquire within about pre-ordering the inaugural EPHA hooded sweatshirt.

12 noon to 2 pm – Sample some of the best Calaveras wines, along with tasty appetizers, during “Wine Tasting in the Meadow”, hosted by Bear Valley Cross Country, Chatom Vineyards and other local wineries. Cross-country ski, snowshoe or walk to one of Bear Valley’s most stunning locations. The cost is $10 per person, not including the required trail pass for XC skiers/snowshoers. Must be 21 years or older. Space is limited; please make advance reservations by calling 209.753.2834.

4 pm to 6pm – Join host Denise Carter in the Bear Valley General Store for wine & beer tasting. An in-store raffle will be held at 5:30.

6:00 pm – The merriment continues with a bonfire in front of the Bear Valley Lodge. Sip hot chocolate or aquavit and sing your finest pagan praises to Ullr, the god of snow.

7:15 pm to 7:45 pm – Reba Sports presents the Winter Fashion Show in the Bear Valley Lodge. Check out this season’s latest styles and choose what you’ll be sporting on the slopes this year.

8:00 pm – Live music in the Cathedral Lounge of the Bear Valley Lodge follows the fashion show. Enjoy music from The Hot Dark, one of the best local bands in area. They always deliver some great tunes.

The Winterfest is presented annually by the Bear Valley Business Association. It is designed to ensure your Thanksgiving weekend is full of many fun activities regardless of how deep the snowpack is.
