Valley Springs Man's Vehicle Strikes CHP Vehicle. Moderate Injuries To CHP Officer

San Andreas, CA...On July 5th, at approximately 2:34pm, a red Mazda Miata driven by a Valley Springs man was traveling westbound on SR-12. A San Andreas, CHP officer was traveling eastbound on SR-12, in a fully marked CHP Ford Explorer. This collision occurred when the Miata failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and rove off the payment and onto the dirt/gravel shoulder. The driver over corrected and swerved to the left across the double yellow lines and directly into the path of the CHP Officer's vehicle.

CHP Seeking Information On Solo Vehicle Fatality Where Woman & Dog Perished

Camp Connell, CA...On 07/04/2015, San Andreas Area CHP Officers were dispatched to a traffic collision with an ambulance responding. Upon arriving on scene, officers found that a single Subaru had lost control and traveled down a steep and rocky embankment, rolling over and striking a tree. As a result of the collision, the driver and a dog sustained fatal injuries. The driver was found to be wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision. Although the cause of this collision is still under investigation, the driver's impairment is unknown. The actual time and date of the collision is still under investigation..

Murphys, CA...Our little Taco-Murphy is lost! Please help us bring her home. She is a 3 year old "Chiweenie" (Chihuahua/Dachsund mix) and weighs 14 pounds. We had her with us in the parking lot of Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys, CA on the 4th of July. We made the decision to bring her with us because we thought she would rather be scared and with her family than scared and alone - something we are very much regretting now, as she bolted out of our arms when a particularly loud firework went off.

La Grange, CA...On 7/4/15 about 1143 A.M. the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a boater on Lake Don Pedro near Fleming Meadows reporting a member of their party vacationing on Lake Don Pedro had been swimming near the boat. The 26 year old male from Fullerton, CA. went under water and had failed to resurface. Lake Don Pedro Rangers as well as personnel from the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office Boating Enforcement Unit responded to the scene and attempted to locate the subject. Initial attempts to locate the subject were unsuccessful.

I liked putting a cherry bomb under a tin can, shooting it 30 feet up in the air. Totally cool! Too bad my dad didn't think so. After much reading I discovered the 4th can mean so much more than independence and cherry bombs - even BBQs. It can be a celebration of human liberty!

Sad Ending To Missing Person Case

Camp Connell, CA...Law Enforcement, Emergency Personnel and now the coroner & tow trucks are on grisly scene on Hwy 4 just west of Forest Road 7N09. Official reports are not in but a vehicle of the same model and color of the missing woman has been found off the roadway. She may have impacted or swerved to avoid a deer and went off the south shoulder of the roadway and impacted a tree 8-10 feet off the ground. Damage to the vehicle was severe and it appears her dog perished with her.

Bear Valley, CA...Catherine Feist (Donovan), White female, with brown hair, 52 years old. Vehicle is a blue-gray 2005 Subaru. She has her dog “Trixie” with her; a black and white border collie. Last heard from Wednesday, 7/1/15 at 1645 hours while en route from San Francisco to Bear Valley, where she has a cabin. She was supposed to meet friends here but did not show up. Her phone was last used in the Arnold/Dorrington area at around 2000 hours on 7/1/15.

Fire Restrictions Go Into Effect In Moderate & High Hazard Areas

Sonora, CA…The Forest Service announced that, because of high fire danger, a Forest Order enacting temporary fire restrictions is in effect in Moderate and High Hazard Areas of the Stanislaus National Forest (NF). The fire restriction prohibits campfires, briquette barbecues, and smoking outside developed campgrounds in designated Moderate and High Hazard Areas of the Forest. Welding and blasting also are prohibited, except by special permit. This Forest Order serves as an extra measure to help reduce the potential for large and damaging wildfires. We are asking the public's cooperation in helping us prevent destructive fires before they start.

Iryna Elisabeth Maybrook 4/13/1931 – 6/23/2015

Plymouth, CA...Iryna passed away peacefully at Mark Twain Convalescent Hospital after surviving a serious stroke in 2012 that left her paralyzed but never broke her loving spirit. She was born Irma Elisabeth Baumler in Bamburg, Germany on April 13, 1931 and grew up in Bad Staffelstein, Germany. After serving as governess to a diplomat’s children in London and Beirut, she immigrated to the United States at age 27 and moved to Chicago, IL, where she married Billie Johnson in 1960. She and Billie had four children and were blessed with two granddaughters. She was incredibly devoted to her family as well as her friends and community. In later years she worked happily doing the Lord’s work at Moriah Heights, where she served as Treasurer for the Hope Foundation until 2007. In 1998, Billie passed away, and in 1999 she remarried widower Mike Maybrook, with whom she shared a loving life until Mike’s death in 2007...

Valley Springs, CA...Roy Edward Hillabush Jr., age 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, June 26, 2015. He was born in Batavia, New York on October 12, 1933 to Roy and Evelyn Hillabush. He served in the military from 1951-1954. On July 2, 1955 Roy married Joyce Curry. Throughout his life he faithfully served his God and church as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Elder. He was currently a member of the Clements Community Church. As a school board member, Boy Scout leader and Child Evangelism Fellowship treasurer he shared his wisdom. Roy was a gifted mechanic and talented woodworker and enjoyed making wooden toys for his grandchildren, great grandchildren and all.

Washington, DC...Nonfarm payroll employment rose by 223,000 in June, and the unemployment rate declined to 5.3 percent. Employment increased in professional and business services, health care, retail trade, financial activities, and in transportation and warehousing. Incorporating revisions for April and May, which decreased nonfarm employment by 60,000, monthly job gains have averaged 221,000 over the past 3 months. In the 12 months prior to June, employment growth averaged 250,000 per month....

Loki and Indy will be there, along with other kitties who would love to meet you. We will also have kitties available at our Angels Camp Adoption Center, located in Angels Town Center (240 S. Main St./Hwy 49), open Thurs/Fri, 10 am–5 pm, and Saturday, 11 am–5pm. Come in and meet the kitties!

Sheriff's Office Seeking Additional Information On Circle XX Shooting

Angels Camp, CA...On 06/28/15, at about 1150 hours, Deputies responded to a report of a male subject trying to force his way into a home on the 6000 block of Chaparojos Street, Angels Camp, threatening to kill 29 year old Derek Rutherford. The occupant armed himself with a hand gun in fear for his safety. The male subject continued to threaten Rutherford and to force entry, when a third party arrived. The male suspect then turned his focus on her and told Rutherford that he would kill the female. Derek Rutherford exited the residence, shooting the male suspect multiple times. The suspect succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Derek Rutherford was questioned about the incident and released. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing...

Murphys, CA...On June 25th at around 4:15 PM my father suffered a severe stroke that disabled the left side of his body and required his admission to the UC Davis medical center in the Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit where he currently resides. We were incredibly fortunate to have been there for him, and we got him to the hospital within three hours of the event so that he could be administered life-saving medicine. Unfortunately, this did not do as much as the doctors had hoped and his condition worsened. The right lobe of his brain had continued to swell, and I had to give the go-ahead for a craniectomy. This is an operation that allows for pressure to be relieved in his head, but left my father without one side of his skull.

The Calaveras County General Plan Update Process Picks Up The Pace & Community Plans To Be Included

San Andreas, CA...Last night the San Andreas Town Hall was filled with a good sized crowd that weighed in on the now almost decade long General Plan update process. The Draft Plan was released on December 18, 2014. During the following 90 review and comment period there were over 400 comment letters submitted totalling over 1000 pages for review. The planning commission is scheduled to start the detailed review process July 9th. Planning Director, Peter Mauer at the start of last night's meeting gave an update on the process. One of the biggest items items of contention during the Draft Plan comment phase was on the inclusion of the Community Plans in the General Plan. In some instances local community members had spend hundreds of hours working on their visions for their communities. Direction was given to include the Community Plans in the General Plan.
