San Andreas – As drought conditions continue to increase fire danger in the region, CAL FIRE has suspended all burn permits for outdoor open residential burning within the State Responsibility Area of Tuolumne County, Calaveras County, Eastern Stanislaus County and Eastern San Joaquin County. This suspension takes effect June 1, 2015 and bans all residential outdoor burning of landscape debris including branches and leaves....

Angels Camp, CA...The docks, boats and decks were filled for the Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening of the New, New Melones Marina. Ownership is now is local hands as the Mills Family unveiled the remodeled and freshened up Marina. The event also helped reinforce that while water levels may be less than what we would like there is still plenty of water waiting for all of your watersport, boating and houseboating adventures. The ribbon cutting ceremony was officiated by Supervisor Debbie Ponte and Darrin Mills' former babysitter. Refreshments and Newsome Harlow wines were served.

Pioneer, CA...On Sunday May 24, 2015 at approximately 1715 hours personnel from the United States Forest Service contacted the Amador County Sheriff’s Office and provided notification that a hiker had located a deceased subject in Salt Springs Reservoir approximately 3.5 miles from the dam. Amador County Sheriff’s Deputies responded and hiked to the area where they located and removed the partially submerged male subject. Due to darkness and the steep, rocky terrain deputies secured the scene overnight. Deputies were accompanied by Amador County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue personnel. On Monday May 25, 2015 the decedent was recovered by the flight crew of Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office helicopter A101....

Caltrans Concludes Tower Anchor Rod Seismic “Pull” Tests

Oakland, CA...Caltrans today announced completing the first phase of the Bay Bridge tower anchor rod investigation, releasing test results showing more than 99 percent of rods that could be tested were not broken and can withstand major earthquake forces. “More than 99 percent of the more than 400 rods tested in the Bay Bridge tower foundation are not broken,” said Dr. Brian Maroney, Chief Engineer of the Bay Bridge project. “These anchor rods are just one of many seismic innovations on this bridge that help ensure resiliency of the structure for decades to come. The two rods that did not pass the test will be sent to a laboratory to determine exactly what happened to them.”
