May 3, 2014 - Paleo Cooking Class at Marisolio Tasting Bar - Otherwise known as the Caveman's Diet, Paleo cooking emphasizes meats, poultry, fish, eggs, veggies, fruit, fungi, roots, nuts, tubers and natural oils (olive oil among them). The thought behind this diet is that only foods a caveman could find will be eaten. This will prove to be a very interesting class and will foster a lot of discussion. Classes are held at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM, depending on enrollment.
May 3, 2014 - 4th Annual Soroptomist Chili Cook-off at the Murphys Historic Hotel - Net proceeds from the event help fund SI of Calaveras County’s “Take Women To Heart” program, in partnership with Mark Twain Medical Center, providing free lipid tests to Calaveras County women. May 3, 2014 – 4th Annual Carmesi Wine Release at Bodega del Sur Winery- Saturday, from 1:00 – 5:00 at The Garden in Murphys, a lovely historic home in the heart of town. The event will unveil “Valentina" a lovely red wine blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha and Monastrell. Enjoy a Latin influenced luncheon with music by Cosa Buena and a silent auction.. Proceeds from the event benefit The Resource Connection Calaveras Crisis Center, a non-profit organization that assists abused women and their children.
