Erik Arvidsson US Ski Team Member in BV this Week

Bear Valley, CA...US Ski Team Member Erik Arvidsson back in Bear Valley this week to train. Erik began his skiing career as a member of Bear Valley's Development team at just 6 years old. Not long after he joined Bear Valley’s Race team and continued his racing in Squaw. It didn't take long before he was on the radar of the U.S. Ski Team. Winning the combined and slalom titles at the 2012 J2 National Championships helped. The event was upgraded for the 2014 season into the U18 National Champs and Arvidsson did not disappoint, nabbing another slalom title. Next month Erik is off to Austria, wish him well if you see him training on the slopes this week!!


Erik Arvidsson & Emily Mallard - both began their racing careers in Bear Valley and still call Bear Valley their "Home Mountain". Erik, recently selected to the US Ski Team and Emily now racing for Stratton School in Vermont.

Bear Valley, CA... Hey Good People! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all ya'll!!!! We received 2-4" in last 24hrs and that means a Powder Day for Christmas. As the system arrived yesterday it brought with it some winds that topped out at 38mph so with some redistribution of the snow that fell you will see 2-4" of new snow around the Mtn with possibly a little bit more in some spots. Currently the temp at 5am is 13F with a wind chill factor of -2F so dress warm today as the projected high will be 28F. Winds will shift to the ENE this morning from 13-23mph. Today as the the next weather system moves in we'll see a chance of mixed snow/rain at first then turning to all snow by mid to late afternoon. 1-2" is expected during the hours of sunshine and then another 2-4" tonight. Winds will be out of the South Southwest from 7-10mph then increasing to 16-21mph with possible gusts up to 30mph or so. This is a fast moving storm track and should be moving out of the area by early Christmas morning and give way to a mostly sunny Christmas POWDER DAY with a few clouds remaining as the system pushes out to the East. Murphys, CA...Everett Wayne ( Stick ) Morgan , age 82 of Murphys California died in Calaveras County on December 2, 2014. Private internment services were held at Buena Vista Cemetery in Murphys on December 13,2014. A Celebration of life Ceremony will be held on January 3, 2015,1:00 p.m. at the Native Sons Hall located in Murphys California. Mr. Morgan was born in French Camp California November 29, 1932. He Attended grade school in San Jose Ca. Graduated from Orland High School in 1951 and then attended Chico State College in Chico California after being discharged from the Navy. He was employed with the Oakland Fire Department for 26 years. Following retirement he moved to Douglas Flat in Calaveras County. He was employed as a Transportation Officer in the Mental Health Department for 14 years with Calaveras County. He joined the US Navy as a Naval Construction Engineer with the Seabee’s who live by the motto, “We Build, We Fight, Can Do”. While in the Navy Seabees, Everett was stationed at Subic Bay, in the Philippines. Stick, as he was best known, was an active member of the Murphys/ Angels Camp Lions Club for 22 years where he focused on fund raising projects. He was a long-time resident of Calaveras County where he resided in Douglas Flat for 22 years spending the last 8 years in the Murphys Diggins...

Bear Valley, CA... Hey Good People! It's going to be another beautiful sunny day with a high right around 52F and winds out of the East from 5-11mph. The next system will be arriving later in the day on Christmas Eve and will bring 3-5" of snow overnight. Snow totals for that system could exceed 5" especially since it's a fast moving in and out storm with a track heading right at Bear Valley. Due to the nature of this fast moving storm winds will be expected to range from 13-36mph. Christmas day will receive the end of the snowfall mid morning and give way to a POWDER DAY with a few clouds remaining as the system pushes out to the East. Good News...Angels Camp Juvenile Located Safe

Angels Camp, CA...The runaway juvenile, Crystal Houle, that was reported on 12/17/14 has been located and returned home. On 12/21/14, at approximately 1030 AM, Sacramento Police Department notified the Angels Camp Police that the vehicle Houle was driving was located, and that they were attempting to locate Houle. A short time later Sacramento PD called back to report that an officer located Houle at an address in Sacramento. Houle was initially released to the custody of Sacramento County Child Protective Services, as is normal procedure, and her mother was notified and responded to Sacramento to pick up Houle and bring her home....
