The 21st Annual Ironstone Concours d' Elegance is September 23rd

Murphys, CA...For over 20 years, the non-profit Ironstone Concours Foundation has presented the Ironstone Concours d’Elegance with the idea of attracting the finest examples of vintage and classic automobiles as well as vintage race cars, trucks, trailers, housecars and military vehicles. Proceeds of the event go to promote and support youth in agriculture. More than $750,000 have been raised for local Future Farmers of America (FFA) and 4-H youth activities. The Ironstone Concours Foundation also donates scholarships to the California State Fair and the Calaveras County Fair as well as the FFA Leadership Conference, Guide Dog Programs and Horse Classic. Full Highway Closure of Hwy 4 in Alpine County Postponed to September 27

Alpine, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has postponed the planned closure of State Route 4 (SR-4) for pavement repair work. The original date of the closure of eastbound and westbound SR-4 that had been scheduled for Wednesday, September 20, 2017, is now scheduled for Wednesday, September 27, 2017. The closure will be in effect from closure gate #2 (east of Lake Alpine) to Highland Lake Road beginning at 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Angels Camp, CA...Bennington was driving her Jeep eastbound on SR-4 east of Stallion Way at approximately 30-40 miles per hour. Haynes was riding her Harley Davidson westbound on SR-4 at approximately 70 miles per hour approaching the Jeep's location. Haynes passed two vehicles over the solid double yellow lines and attempted to reposition back within the westbound lane. As Haynes moved into the westbound lane, she entered a right hand curve in the roadway.

Sonora, CA...Hunting season begins in Tuolumne and Mariposa counties on Sept. 16 and in Calaveras County on Sept. 23, and Forest officials urge hunters to plan for fire safety. “Stanislaus National Forest is experiencing frequent lightning storms, which increase the potential of fire activity,” said Scott Tangenberg, acting Forest Supervisor. “We want hunters to not only know where current fires are burning, but also to know what to do if they find themselves in a fire situation.”
