Decoding Prop 47, “The Safe Neighborhoods and Schools Act” ~ By Barbara M. Yook, District Attorney

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/23/2014 01:56 PM
San Andreas, CA....Prop 47 reduces some felonies to misdemeanors but assures us the public will remain safe because no dangerous offenders will benefit. Once the clever language of Prop 47 is decoded however, the impacts of Prop 47 are opposite its assurance and title. Domestic violence, child abuse, stalking, involuntary manslaughter, and resisting an officer causing death are already considered “non-serious” and “non-violent” crimes under the law. Residential burglary, carjacking, robbery, and arson are considered “serious” or “violent” crimes under the law and these are commonly called “strikes”. Under Prop 47, none of the above crimes will be considered a “danger” to public safety....

Arnold, CA...After a long night of hard work by Calaveras County Water District field staff members, two leaks in an aging 12-inch water main were repaired and water service was restored to the Arnold area. The first of the two leaks was reported just before noon on Wednesday, October 22, and was estimated to affect about 500 people. A break in the main water line was sending a stream of water down a natural drainage in the area. CCWD crews began turning off the water serving most of downtown Arnold and the surrounding subdivisions at around 2 p.m. Wednesday. While crews were repairing the first leak, a second leak in the same pipeline was reported beneath the pavement of Blagen Road about 1 mile from the initial break....

Today, our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Corporal Nathan Cirillo of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada. With Five-Run Sixth, Royals Knot World Series At One ~ By Dick Kaegel / MLB.com

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/22/2014 09:45 PM
KANSAS CITY -- Now we've got a Series. The Royals bounced back from their first loss of the postseason with a 7-2 victory over the Giants in Game 2 at Kauffman Stadium on Wednesday night, knotting up the series at a game apiece as the teams head for San Francisco. They did it in Royal style, erupting for five runs in the bottom of the sixth after fireman extraordinaire Kelvin Herrera got starter Yordano Ventura off the hook in the top half of the inning. Billy Butler's RBI single broke a 2-2 tie and ignited the outburst. Salvador Perez then pounded a two-run double and Omar Infante followed with a two-run homer off Giants reliever Hunter Strickland -- the fifth home run he's allowed this October -- in the breakout inning as a crowd of 40,446 roared on a delightful 67-degree evening....

I Am Voting For Michael Oliveira ~ By Lisa Muetterties

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/22/2014 08:34 PM
Arnold, CA...I have been campaigning for Michael Oliveira for Supervisor. I would like to address the recent paid advertisement Supervisor Merita Callaway’s Campaign written by Mike Borean. It is very sad that Mike Borean has chosen to make false and inaccurate comments about Michael Oliveira. Mike Borean and Merita’s campaign has taken to trying to discredit Michael Oliveira and it saddens me. I do know Michael Oliveira will be posting factual information and documentation to correct the many inaccurate statements made by Mike Borean. Michael Oliveira bought his home in Arnold in 2002. He went to work in the Sheriff Department in 2007 and also served as Bailiff. He was appointed to the Resident Deputy position in 2011. I attended the meeting held at the Moose Lodge in Arnold by Sheriff Kuntz where he introduced Michael and explained he would be our Resident Deputy. This meeting was also attended by Merita Callaway....

Dear Voters of Calaveras County District Three ~ By Mike Borean

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/22/2014 12:53 PM
Hathaway Pines, CA...Why I have chosen to support Merita Callaway for Calaveras County District 3 Supervisor and why I strongly oppose the candidacy of Michael Oliveira. First, the positives. I have known Merita Callaway for many years and have dealt with her on several County issues. I have always found Merita to be honorable and honest. Merita expends an incredible amount of time and energy with her duties as a County Supervisor. She is constantly out in the community and attends several meetings and events every week. In the primary election campaign, Merita was gracious to me as a competing candidate. I am especially grateful that she ran an honorable campaign. I have publicly endorsed Merita and she has my full support....

The repair could take up to eight hours to complete, however field crews are working hard to complete the job quickly and restore water service. Much of downtown Arnold will be without water service until the repair is complete, including Mill Woods, Lilac Park and Cedar Center. Streaky good: MadBum, Giants cruise in Game 1 ~ By Chris Haft / MLB.com

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/21/2014 11:05 PM
KANSAS CITY -- Madison Bumgarner continued to ensure his place in baseball history, while the Giants kept pursuing theirs with a 7-1 triumph over the Kansas City Royals in Tuesday night's World Series opener at Kauffman Stadium. Hunter Pence's two-run homer fueled a three-run first inning in Game 1 as the Giants proceeded to complement Bumgarner's seven-inning effort with their second-highest scoring total of the postseason. "We had good at‑bats tonight," said Giants manager Bruce Bochy. "It's good to get those early runs, and we had some real nice at‑bats early in the game. [Gregor] Blanco got us going, Buster [Posey], and Pablo [Sandoval] hit a good pitch, and Pence. It's good to give your guys some early runs there, and Bum was superb."

Thank You!!!!!!, More Server Horsepower Added & A Programing Note

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/21/2014 11:11 AM
Arnold, CA...First and foremost we would like to say THANK YOU! Without the thousands of you each and everyday that visit ThePineTree.net well this wouldn't be nearly as much fun! September was our busiest month ever with 16,671,715 pageviews. So in a short calendar month ThePineTree.net had over 555,000 pageviews every single day in Sept. Several days would have easily passed the Million daily pageview mark but our servers just couldn't handle any more load. The good news for most of us that market and promote our area is a good percentage of this interest was from Bay Area and Valley Visitors! The bad news is that on some days it nearly brought the site to a crawl. The last few weeks we have been working to add capacity and now the site should be able to handle more traffic while still returning pages for your viewing pleasure in a more timely fashion. We have actually been holding back some of our features until the site could handle it. You will probably see some pieces from weeks ago that we still feel deserve to be posted and hopefully you will still find them useful or interesting. Thanks for your visits! Thanks for your patience and let us see if we can all use our increased visibility to move our local economy forward.
