Last Weekends Telemark Festival........Aaron Johnson addresses his staff.
The Telemark turn is in someways a throwback to the skiing style of years ago. It is also a more versatile style of skiing. It is well suited for back country exploring and mixed terrain use.
Mark and his wife are actually back county ski patrols in the Lake Tahoe area. They try and make it to the Bear Valley Telemark Festival every year. For them the telemark style of skiing is an integral part of how they do their jobs each weekend during ski season. When climbing they can also put "Skins" on the skies that allow them to climb effectively.
The Telemark Festival is organized every year by the Mountain Adventure Seminar company. Aaron & Kimi Johnson and their staff do a great job hosting this annual event. MAS also teaches rock climbing, avalanche, and numerous styles of clinics every year. The Video below runs under 2 minutes...
