Volunteers Wanted at Calaveras Big Trees State Park

Arnold, CA....If you have ever thought about volunteering at a state park, now is your chance. Calaveras Big Trees State Park, just outside the town of Arnold, is looking for people who would like to preserve and interpret the famous Calaveras groves of giant sequoias.....

New volunteers are required to attend a “basic training” class. This year the training will be on March 19 and 20 (choose one date) and also April 2. For more information and to reserve a spot, please contact Wendy Harrison at (209) 795-7980.

Volunteer docents at Calaveras Big Trees are involved in a variety of activities around the park that match the skills and interests of each volunteer . These include the following:

Working in the Visitor Center Museum to help visitors learn more about the park’s features and activities.

Walking the park trails to provide information to visitors on the trail, and provide information to park staff about trail conditions.

Working with our youth programs during the summer and school
year to help instill an appreciation and undertanding of these incredible trees.

Protecting and enhancing the Park’s natural resources.

Helping with Family Day, our big festival held every August.

There are many more acitivities available – contact us for more information.

Volunteers receive many benefits such as: free use of the park, continuing education about the park through trainings and seminars, being part of a fun and active group that loves the outdoors, and free passes to other state parks. If this sounds like something you would enjoy, please give us a call!

For more information, call Wendy Harrison at 209-795-7980.
