PG&E Mobilizes Response to Camp Fire Impacts in Butte and Plumas Counties

San Francisco, CA....Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) today reports that it is supporting first responders and local agencies and has mobilized its Emergency Operations Center in San Francisco, as well as multiple local operations centers, to support wildfire emergency response to the Camp Fire in Butte and Plumas counties. To support these efforts in the field, PG&E will be dedicating appropriate resources to assist first responders and its customers. PG&E's first priority is the safety of customers, employees, contractors and the communities it serves.

As of 9:00 a.m., the fire has burned about 70,000 acres. Approximately 25,000 PG&E customers are currently without power due to the impacts of the Camp Fire. At the request of first responders, PG&E turned off power to some customers as an emergency precaution to support safety and firefighting efforts. Others lost power due to fire-damaged equipment.

As a safety precaution, PG&E also turned off gas service to about 12,000 customers in and around the City of Paradise.

PG&E has provided an initial electric incident report to the Safety and Enforcement Division of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). The information provided in this report is preliminary and PG&E will fully cooperate with any investigations. There has been no determination on the causes of the Camp Fire.
