Telegraph Fire Reaches 100% Containment!

Mariposa County, CA... As of 7:45 this morning, CAL fire has announced the full containment of the two week Telegraph Fire in Mariposa County. The base camp in Mariposa started its clean up this morning and local firefighters are being released home during the next few days. The full CAL Fire report is enclosed.....

County: Mariposa County
Location: Telegraph Road and Sherlock Road in the Midpines Area.
Acres Burned: 34,091 acres
Containment 100% contained
Structures Threatened: No current threat
Structures Destroyed: 30 Residences and 100 Outbuildings. This number has increased due to a complete damage assesment.
Injuries: 38 minor
Evacuations:
8/2 - All evacuation orders and warnings have been lifted.

The evacuation center at Mariposa Elementary School is now closed. The Red Cross Local Assistance and Distribution Center at the Midpines Community Center will close today at 5:00 pm. Those who are unable to get to the service center can call the Red Cross Fresno-Madera Chapter at (559) 455-1000.

Cause: Human (Target Shooting)
Estimated Cost: $36.5 million
Resources Committed : 1,522 Personnel

36 Hand Crews
6 Dozers
32 Watertenders
3 Helicopters
Cooperating Agencies: CAL FIRE, Mariposa County Fire, Mariposa Sheriffs Department, BLM, USFS, National Park Service, OES, CCC, CHP, and California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Conditions:
Minimal fire behavior observed. Strengthening and improving fire lines continues. Fire suppression repair is ongoing. Demobilization of resources is in progress. Yosemite valley should be operating on normal transmission line power. While the transition takes place there could be intermittent power in Yosemite Valley and El Portal.

Highway 140 subject to brief traffic delays, north of Midpines and south of El Portal. For the latest highway conditions visit Caltrans.

The incident is no longer operating in an Area Command. Incident Command Team #8 will be in Unified Command with a US Forest Service Team.
