Scenic Celebration Set for Ebbetts Pass National Scenic Byway on September 13th!

Calaveras and Alpine Counties, CA....The Ebbetts Pass Scenic Byway Association has announced that the second annual “Scenic Celebration” event highlighting the scenic wonders of the Ebbetts Pass National Scenic Byway will take place on Saturday, September 13th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The public is invited to experience a number of enriching and enjoyable activities at eight different venues while traveling the scenic byway between Arnold and Markleeville......

Passports will be handed out to each participant free of charge. Passports can be stamped at each location, and those submitting completed passports at the end of the day will be entered into a drawing to win valuable prizes including season pass from Bear Valley Mountain Resort, overnight stays at Dorrington Hotel and Bear Valley Lodge, and the Carson River Resort, plus many other exciting gifts.

The Ebbetts Pass National Scenic Byway is a 61-mile stretch of Highways 4 and 89 between Arnold in Calaveras County and Markleeville in Alpine County. The byway was honored with the prestigious designation of National Scenic Byway in Sept. 2005 by the Federal Highway Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation, joining the elite group of six other designated byways in California and 125 such designated byways in the United States.

Participating venues include “Camp Comfort” in Arnold - 830 Highway 4; Calaveras Big Trees State Park; The Dorrington Hotel; Camp Connell General Store; Bear Valley Village; Hermit Valley; and Markleeville. Activities planned for the various venues include historical exhibits, live music, gourmet food treats, guided interpretive walks, art exhibits and live painting exhibitions, mountain bike tours, Frisbee golf, and more. Admission to all venues is free, except for a $6 entrance fee to Calaveras Big Trees State Park.

Event Sponsors are being sought to help underwrite the costs of the event. Sponsorship levels include Sequoia sponsor - $500, Tamarack sponsor - $250 and Aspen sponsor - $100. Sponsors will receive public recognition and other benefits commensurate with the level of sponsorship.

For information on becoming a sponsor, contact Marsha Larrabee at 795-9942.
The event is sponsored by the Ebbetts Pass Scenic Byway Association, a non-profit organization formed in 2007 to promote and enhance the scenic byway. For further information, visit online at www.scenic4.org or call 795-9942.
