Minor Injuries In Off Road Excursion for Amador Juveniles

Plymouth, CA...A 16 year old female juvenile from Jackson was driving a 2000 Toyota southbound on Ostrom Road south of Shenandoah Road at a stated speed of 35 mph. While she was negotiating a left curve in the roadway, she caused or allowed the Toyota to veer to the right where it traveled off the right roadway edge. The vehicle continued down an embankment where it struck a wire fence and overturned. Several passengers were transported to Sutter Amador Hospital for medical attention. This traffic collision is still under investigation.

Fire Update...Forest Service Working Vegetation Fire In Stanislaus Canyon

Columbia, CA...(Update as of 5:20pm...we just received an update from USFS. Fire is holding at 5-7 acres and they should have it controlled in a few hours. There are currently several engines and air assets working the fire) Fire fighters in air and on the ground are working an 8-10 acre vegetation fire at last report from USFS. Air has been working it while ground crews made their way to the scene. They are optimistic they will have this knocked down quickly...

Major Injuries to Lodi Woman in Motorcycle Collision

Glencoe, CA...A 44 year old Lodi man was riding his 2006 Harley Davidson with his passenger a 39 year old Lodi woman westbound on Hwy 26 near Rich Gulch Road. They entered a left hand curve in the roadway at approximately 30 mph. He failed to safely negotiate the curve and traveled onto the right shoulder where he lost control of the motorcycle and overturned ejecting both rider and passenger. The Lodi woman traveled off a small embankment where she collided with a tree.

Distraction From Oversized Load Leads To Rear End Collision

San Andreas, CA...On 06/26/2017 at approximately 0802 hours, Party-1 (Soria) was driving Vehicle-1 (Ford) northbound on SR-49 north of Pool Station Rd. at approximately 35 miles per hour. Party-2 (Scronce) was driving Vehicle-2 (Chrysler) northbound on SR-49 to the front of Vehicle-1. An over-sized vehicle that was traveling southbound in the passing lanes, was being escorted by CHP units with emergency lights activated. Party-1 was looking at the approaching units when traffic proceeding northbound began to slow for the over-sized load. Party-2 began to slow her vehicle. When Party-1 looked forward he noticed Vehicle-2 was slowing. Party-1 applied the vehicle-1's brakes but was unable to stop in time. Subsequently the front of the vehicle-1 struck the rear of vehicle-2.

Logan Robert Bannwarth, 30 from Sonora Lost His Life in Motorcycle Collision

La Grange, CA...On June 26, 2017 at approximately 8:17 pm, 30 year old Sonora resident, Logan Robert Bannwarth, was riding a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle westbound on State Route 132 west of Bonds Flat Road at an unknown speed. Bannwarth failed to negotiate a left hand curve in the roadway and ran off of the right edge of the road. Bannwarth struck two reflective road edge markers and was subsequently ejected from the motorcycle. Bannwarth sustained fatal injuries as a result of this collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Calaveras Supervisors Back in Action Today. Honoring Ryan Heryford Gets Things Rolling

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras Board of Supervisors are back in action today. They start the day off with a closed session. Then first item for the day is a Proclamation recognizing the achievements of Ryan Heryford. Uphold Administrative Citation 2017-006 and Fines imposed for Code Compliance Case #1663 regarding the property located at 8429 Sparrowk Road in Valley Springs. Authorize the Sheriff to Execute Intergovernmental Contract with Bureau of Reclamation, Department of Interior, in the amount of $154,420 for Law Enforcement Services at New Melones Lake from June 1, 2017 through May 31,2018. Authorize the Board Chair to execute amendment for the provision of psychiatry services increasing the maximum amount payable from $700,000 to $785,000. Accept donations from the Friends of the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office totaling $16,064.51 & recognition of their continued support of the County Sheriff's Office. Authorize the CAO to execute an agreement to develop and implement a new electronic permit tracking system in the amount not to exceed $494,610. Convene a Public Hearing to consider Calaveras Transit system changes to improve the farebox recovery ratio and approve a Resolution to: a) eliminate the Delta Gold Line transit service between Calaveras County and Stockton as of July 28, 2017 and support the weekly operation of the Saturday Hopper in FY 2017/18. Authorize the Board Chair to sign a letter of support for Congressman McClintock's call for the USFS to expedite the reopening of forest service roads including New Spicer Reservoir and Board Crossing Roads. Approve the issuance of Series C Bonds for the Bret Harte Union High School District, in an amount not-to-exceed $750,000. The full agenda is enclosed...

State Department To Start Implementing Reinstated Portions of Travel Ban

Washington, DC...With the objective of maximizing national security, the Department of State will implement Executive Order 13780, “Protecting the Nation From Foreign Terrorist Entry Into the United States” in an orderly fashion, consistent with the Supreme Court’s unanimous order, and in accordance with the Presidential Memorandum issued on June 14, 2017, which directs us to begin implementation 72 hours after the stay. The Department of State will provide additional details on implementation after consultation with the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security.

Tuolumne County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform one-way traffic control on eastbound and westbound State Route 120 from Evergreen Road to Hardin Flat Road for pavement work. Crews will be working Monday, June 26, 2017, through Tuesday, June 27, 2017, from 6:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Motorists should expect 10 minute delays.

So even when bad things happen here (which they do) at the end of the day we have a lot to be thankful for as we live in some of the greatest areas literally on the planet. We may not all be a Buffett, Gates or a Bezos but we are part of the one percent because we call this area home.
