Calaveras County Health Officer Expresses Alarm Entering Holiday Weekend With 13 New Cases of COVID-19 Confirmed

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/02/2020 05:15 PM
San Andreas, CA...Calaveras Public Health continues to experience an alarming and accelerating trend of community spread in the County. On Thursday, July 2, 2020, Calaveras Public Health reported 13 additional cases of COVID-19. This is the largest increase of positive cases in any reporting period in the County since the pandemic began. “As we enter the Fourth of July holiday weekend, it is important for the public to refrain from group activities and large scale gatherings that have been shown to spread COVID-19 infection”, says Dr. Dean Kelaita, Calaveras County Health Officer. “What we are seeing in Calaveras County continues to be a significant outbreak of COVID-19 in several regions of our community. Widespread community transmission is now taking place throughout Calaveras. I want to emphasize the critical importance of people taking proper precautions and act as if everyone you come in contact with has COVID,” said Dr. Dean Kelaita. “If things continue at this rate, we are in very serious risk of overwhelming our local hospital and limited ICU capacity. If this trajectory of disease continues, the virus is on the cusp of spiraling completely out of control in the Foothills”, the doctor added.

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/02/2020 01:29 PM
Washington, DC...Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 4.8 million in June, and the unemployment rate declined to 11.1 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. These improvements in the labor market reflected the continued resumption of economic activity that had been curtailed in March and April due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and efforts to contain it. In June, employment in leisure and hospitality rose sharply. Notable job gains also occurred in retail trade, education and health services, other services, manufacturing, and professional and business services.

Sender's Market's Weekly Ad & Grocery Specials Through July 7th

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/02/2020 09:41 AM
Mountain Ranch, CA...In 1950, we started out as a family operation with Erich’s father and mother, August and Freida Sender, in a century-old adobe building. The upstairs was home to the Sender family, and the first floor included groceries, a meat market, a bar, and a small eating place called Opa’s Smokehouse. On Christmas morning in 1968, the old store was destroyed by fire. But in June 1969, Sender’s Market, Inc. was opened. Since that time, there have been many changes, including remodeling, expansion, and the addition of many employees. That’s also when we added the truss plant and purchased Sender’s Market Ace Hardware in Valley Springs. Today, we're still family owned and still working hard to stock everything from pantry essentials to power tools. Whether you've got questions about the perfect cut of meat or the right kind of paint, our helpful, knowledgeable staff has you covered.

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/01/2020 09:15 AM
Sacramento, CA...Governor Gavin Newsom signed SB 350, which protects California by giving the state the authority to hold PG&E accountable if the company fails to adhere to public safety policies, and to put safety, reliability and its customers at the center of its business model. SB 350 builds on the framework set up by AB 1054, which was signed in July 2019, as well as on requirements set in motion by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), the bankruptcy court and most importantly, by the Governor’s push for fundamental changes to transform PG&E into a utility that is reliable and accountable to its customers and to all Californians.
