Burson Man Strikes & Bites Girlfriend. Arrested On Torture, Battery & Domestic Violence Charges

Burson, CA...On 02/22/17 at approx. 10:30 PM, The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 5700 block of Heron Lane in Burson for a domestic violence altercation. Sheriff Deputies learned that 34-year-old suspect Nolan Alan Hilyard and his 53 year old live in girlfriend were involved in a physical confrontation. Nolan Hilyard allegedly repeatedly struck and bit the victim on the head and face causing severe injuries. The victim was able to flee the residence to seek help. Emergency personnel responded and treated the victim. The victim was transported to an area hospital for the severity of her injuries. Sheriff Deputies attempted to make contact with Nolan Hilyard at the time of the report with negative results.

San Andreas, CA...In just a few days we need to decide WHERE to move the remaining supplies of home furnishings for over a dozen survivors of the Butte Fire who's homes are yet unfinished. These "House-In-A-Box" supplies need to be stored for up to six months (we'll be done with distribution before September, and some HIABs are already distributed) at more than 1,000 square feet. Copperopolis, CA...In 1895 James A. Tower was only 16 years old when, using barbed wire fencing, he strung the first telephone line for what was to become The Calaveras Telephone Company. As demands for the telephone service increased, the young Mr. Tower found it necessary to establish a central office in the small community of Felix near the town of Copperopolis. Then in 1899, Mr. Tower, now 20 years old, negotiated an agreement with Sunset Telephone Company that would connect his subscribers by telephone with the rest of the world.

Angels Camp, CA...The bark beetle has ravished our forests, wild lands and private ranches. Beloved trees have been killed by the pesky critter. However the Mortality Tree Task Force is milling these trees. The lumber is being donated to organizations like the Calaveras County Fairgrounds. We are grateful to Cal Fire and the Task Force for the awesome donation. It is great when something good can come from something so devastating.

San Andreas, CA...Ida Frances Davis-Vietor passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 at the age of 80. To her family and friends she was best known as Mom, Grandma Vietor, GG, Auntie Fran, Fran. She is survived by her children: Alvin Knackstedt and wife Vickie, Kevin Vietor and fiancé Kelly, Rich Vietor and wife Tracy, and Traci Cottle and husband Dave. Her grandchildren, Liz and husband Mike, Alvin Jr and wife Christina, Bryce and wife Rebecca, Heather and husband Steve, Kylie and fiancé Alan, Austin, Wyatt, Jessica and husband Jomoore, Dave Jr. and wife Catrina, Christopher and wife Holly, and William. Her great grand-children: Michael, Alexander, Brianna, Makayla, Rylee, Jordan, Kobe, Erin, Alexis, Maxwell, and April. She is preceded in death by Husband Edward Vietor.

Dolores Tretheway Walk 1931-2017

Valley Springs,CA...Dolores went to her heavenly home on March 18th at the age of 86. She was born March 15, 1931 to Godfrey and Lula Nemec. She married John “Cap” Tretheway on July 2, 1950 and had two daughters, Dolly Tretheway Thornburg and Jeannie Tretheway Simpson. She is survived by 4 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one great, great grandson and another due in July. Dolores had 5 sisters: Mary, Norma, Margaret, Beverly and Lenora as well as a large extended family. She will be greatly missed! A memorial service will be held on March 28th at 11am at the San Andreas Memorial Chapel. Graveside burial will follow at Jenny Lind Memorial Cemetery.

This moderately cool system will bring snowfall down to the Sierra passes and will likely impact travel Friday through Saturday morning. In addition to the snowfall, gusty winds are likely at times especially on Friday. If planning travel through the Sierra Cascade range tonight through early Saturday, expect delays and chain controls. Today: Mostly sunny. Not as cool. Highs 31 to 46 higher elevations...46 to 54 lower elevations. Prevailing northeast winds up to 10 mph shifting to the southwest in the afternoon. Tonight: Mostly cloudy. At lower elevations, a slight chance of rain in the evening, then a chance of rain after midnight. At higher elevations, a slight chance of snow in the evening, then a slight chance of rain and snow after midnight. Lows 24 to 39 higher elevations...36 to 42 lower elevations. Snow level 6000 feet. Live Fire Training West Of Angels Camp Slated To Start March 28th

San Andreas, CA...The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is conducting live fire training on the Whittle Vegetation Management Program (VMP) site, west of Angels Camp, along the east side of Fowler Peak Lookout. This training is designed to instruct and certify CAL FIRE employees in the proper use of a helitorch. A helitorch is a device, suspended underneath the helicopter, which dispenses ignited gelled fuel. Use of the helitorch on large fires, effectively removes fuel from areas surrounding a fire, to help control and prevent its spread.

Early Morning “High Risk” Search Warrant Leads To Arrests

Sonora, CA...At approx. 0700hrs, TNT Agents and TCSO SWAT served a “high risk” search warrant for narcotics, stolen property and firearms at a residence located 22808 Four Wheel Drive Rd., Sonora, CA. During the initial entry two female adults, identified as 53 year old Thoris Lynn Donovan and 35 year old Krisse Sue Fells were located and detained. A male juvenile, who was positively identified (but will remain unnamed due to his age) fled the residence.
