FIRE NEWS.....Grass Fire Reported at Glory Hole (Updated)

Angels Camp, CA...Fire Crews are responding to a grass fire being reported near the Glory Hole boat ramp. More to come..... (Update)Resources are being released now as the fire is being mopped up and they have it under control. The total damage is 2-3 acres. In speaking with personnel on scene it appears that this fire may have been sparked by crews doing weed control.

San Andreas, CA.... Calaveras County Sheriff Dennis Downum today announced that Secretary of State Debra Bowen has qualified a statewide anti-gang initiative for the November ballot. "Passage of the Safe Neighborhood Act will ensure that we will know from year to year what our funding will be," Downum said. "This will allow us to plan for and provide the maximum service possible for our citizens. Taking the political drama out of Law Enforcement funding is critical for us to accomplish our mission."......

CHP San Andreas Area Advises: Be Wary of Bicyclists This Weekend!

Murphys, CA...On Saturday June 7, the Sacramento Wheelman Bicycling Club will be hosting the 2008 Sierra Century Bicycle Tour in Calaveras County. The course is open from 6:00 AM to 5:30 PM. It is anticipated there will be 700 to 1200 riders. Route Map Enclosed....

Prescribed Burn Brief....Cow Creek Underburn set for 6/4/08

The Stanislaus National Forest's Summit Ranger District is planning to conduct a 212 acre prescribed burn approximately one-half mile north of the community of Cow Creek, between Forest Road 5N12 and State Hwy 108. Smoke may be visible from Hwy 108, with some down canyon drift smoke visible in the evening and early morning. Depending on weather and fuel moisture conditions, implementation is set for Wednesday, June 4, 2008, with burning continuing over a 2 to 3 day period.....

Two Small Grass Fires Reported Over the Weekend

Calaveras County, CA........CAL Fire reported a 1/8 grass fire at 576 Main Street in Copperopolis on Friday May 30th. Cause is unknown and there were no injuries. There was a also a small spot fire at 129 Sequia Street in Valley Springs. This was caused from escaped ash from a BBQ. No injuries reported. CAL Fire reports are enclosed.....

Wilson Reservoir Fire Reported Sunday

West Point, CA....We received the official fire report from CAL fire for the small 5' x 5' vegetation fire that occurred at Wilson Reservoir in West Point on Sunday. Cause is undetermined. We had heard initial reports of an escaped camp fire. No dollar damage reported. Fire report enclosed.....

We have reports of a small fire in the West Point area caused by a small camp fire. It has not spread and fire crews have it contained.
