Minor Injuries In Collision On SR-16 When River Pines Man Turned In Front Of Plymouth Woman

Drytown, CA...A 45 year old River Pines man was driving his 92 Honda westbound on SR-16. His vehicle was having mechanical problems. He decided to make a u-turn. He turned his vehicle onto the shoulder and then made an immediate u-turn, directly into the path of that was following his vehicle. He failed to observe the vehicle following him from the rear.
Caltrans Used 20lbs Of Explosives To Blast Debris On State Route 26

West Point, CA...In this News Flash, Caltrans takes us on location as emergency maintenance contractors perform a controlled explosion to remove potentially hazardous rocks and debris while repairing State Route 26 (SR-26) near the Amador/Calaveras County line. On February 10, 2017, a roadside slip-out occurred on SR-26, followed by a rockslide on February 11, 2017, less than three miles apart. SR-26 was immediately closed in both directions as crews began to assess the damage and begin repair efforts. While addressing these two slides, workers discovered a small sinkhole located between the two slide sites, leading to the replacement of a culvert pipe approximately 40 feet below the surface.

Drytown, CA..(Update...Multiple injuries and lanes are blocked).CHP is reporting a collision with possible injuries where a Ford sedan and a Honda civic have collided. It has been reported that there is now fire involved as well. Please use caution in the area....
Pavement Repair On Hwy 88 From Kit Carson Lodge To Kirkwood

Amador County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will be performing one-way traffic control on eastbound and westbound State Route 88 from Kit Carson Lodge to the Amador/Alpine County line for pavement repair. Work will begin Monday, April 24, 2017, through Friday, April 28, 2017, from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Motorists should expect 10-minute delays. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.
Major Injuries To Valley Springs Man & Stockton Woman In Sunday's SR-88 Collision

Ione, CA...A 36 year old Valley Springs man was driving his 2006 Toyota westbound on SR-88, east of Eggiman Lane at an unknown speed. A 26 year old Stockton woman was driving her 2010 Chevy eastbound on SR-88, east of Eggiman Lane at approximately 55mph, to the west of the Toyota. For an unknown reason, the Valley Springs man drove his Toyota onto the north gravel shoulder and lost control. The Toyota skidded across SR-88 traffic lanes and into the Chevy's path. The Stockton woman attempted to brake and swerve the Chevy to the south shoulder but was unable to avoid the collision.

USFS Says Mokelumne River Canyon Access Roads Closed Indefinitely Due To Storm Damage

Pioneer, CA...All 3 roads that provide access to the Mokelumne River Canyon are closed indefinitely due to storm damage: Salt Springs Road, Ellis Road, and Panther Creek Road. There is storm damage on all 18 national forests in California with a total of 557 damage sites on forest service roads regionally as of April 5, 2017. There are multiple damage sites on many roads, and the damage is significant in some places. Damage assessment is still in progress and will not be fully known until the snow melts. The photos here are from Panther Creek Road in the Amador Ranger District.
