TRAFFIC NEWS....Head On Collision at Hwy 26 and Gold Strike Road(UPDATED with CHP Release)

San Andreas, CA....We are hearing reports of a head on collision at Hwy 26 and Gold Strike Road. We just spoke with Dave Seawell of the Sheriff's Office and he stated that two people are being medi-flighted out. We will keep you posted as we know more of the extent of injuries. Presribed Burn Set for Tuesday May 20th

The Stanislaus National Forest's Summit Ranger District is planning to conduct a 212 acre prescribed burn approximately one-half mile north of the community of Cow Creek, between Forest Road 5N12 and State Hwy 108. Smoke may be visible from Hwy 108, with some down canyon drift smoke visible in the evening and early morning. Depending on weather and fuel moisture conditions, implementation is set for Tuesday, May 20, 2008, with burning continuing over a 3 to 4 day period.....

Carnival Ride Collapse Sends 23 to Area Hospitals~By Sgt. Dave Seawell

Angels Camp, CA... A thrill ride at the Calaveras County Fair collapsed on Friday evening sending 23 fairgoers to area hospitals. At approx. 6:05 pm the Calaveras County Sheriffs Department Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call reporting that a ride had collapsed injuring numerous persons. This is the first known accident of this type in the history of the Calaveras County Fair.....

A Tractor Creates Spark and Causes Small Vegetation Fire in Copperopolis

Copperopolis, CA....CAL Fire is stating a tractor with a scraper created a spark that ignited and caused a 1/4 acre of vegetation on Thursday at 172 Hawkridge Road in Copperopolis. There were no injuries. Full report is enclosed....

DUI Leads to Rollover with Moderate Injuries

A 39 year old male from Valley Springs was air-lifted to Doctors Hospital of Modesto on Wednesday evening at Hawver Road and Jesus Maria Road. Due to the drivers level of intoxication he allowed his vehicle to leave the roadway and overturn. He suffered moderate injuries and was arrested for a DUI. Full CHP release enclosed......

Deputies Arrest Carnival Employees at County Fair

Angels Camp, CA....On the opening day of the Calaveras County Fair Sheriffs Deputies arrested two carnival employees for outstanding arrest warrants. Sheriffs Deputies contacted James Gorman, 35, of Quincy Massachusetts at the fairgrounds regarding an outstanding arrest warrant. Deputies advised Gorman that he had a warrant for his arrest out of Massachusetts for assault with a deadly weapon and failure to register as a sex offender. While....

Electrical Short Causes Fire on Tuesday in Jenny Lind

Jenny Lind, CA...An electrical short in a bulb that was connected from one storage shed to a trailer with a 10 gauge wire, caused a fire on Tuesday evening at 8267 Ospital Road in Jenny Lind. Damaged were three storage sheds and a travel trailer. Estimated dollar damages are $20,000.00 for structures and contents. No injuries reported. Full CAL Fire report enclosed.....

TRAFFIC NEWS....Non-Injury Vehicle Collision at Hwy 12 and 49

CHP is reporting a non-injury vehicle collision at Hwy 12 just west of Hwy 49. Roadway is clear except for Emergency Personnel. They are also reporting a collision at Hwy 49 and 26 at Pool Station. We will keep you posted as needed.

San Anderas, CA...CHP is reporting a vehicle collision at Hwy 26 just west of Ridge Road. Apparently the vehicle is on fire and the subject is possibly still inside. We will confirm this and keep you updated. UPDATE.....We just spoke with Jaime Castillo at CHP and also Peggy from CAL Fire, and it appears the accident is not as serious as first reported. Apparently there was a small spot fire near vehicle. CHP was canceled. The male jammed a screw driver in the car horn to alert others of the fire. No injuries.
