Minor Injuries In Off Road Excursion for Amador Juveniles

Plymouth, CA...A 16 year old female juvenile from Jackson was driving a 2000 Toyota southbound on Ostrom Road south of Shenandoah Road at a stated speed of 35 mph. While she was negotiating a left curve in the roadway, she caused or allowed the Toyota to veer to the right where it traveled off the right roadway edge. The vehicle continued down an embankment where it struck a wire fence and overturned. Several passengers were transported to Sutter Amador Hospital for medical attention. This traffic collision is still under investigation.

Below is Caltrans plans for repairs and maintenance on local roads. It shows the route, county and location of the possible repairs. Weather and other factors can alter their schedule.
Pavement Work State Route 88 from Court Street to Golf Links Drive

Amador County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will be performing one-way traffic control on eastbound and westbound State Route 88 from Court Street to Golf Links Drive for grinding and paving. Work will begin Sunday, June 25, 2017, through Friday, June 30, 2017, from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. Motorists should expect 10 minute delays. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.

Jackson, CA...Fire fighters are working a vegetation & Barn fire near New York Ranch Road and China Graveyard. The fire is several acres in size but crews are getting a handle on it. Please use caution in the area until they get this one knocked down.

Jackson, CA...Sutter Medical Group, affiliated with Sutter Medical Foundation, awarded $3,000 to Hospice of Amador & Calaveras (HOAC) on June 15th as part of their most recent Philanthropy Program funding period. Hospice of Amador & Calaveras will use the grant to bolster two critical programs: Griefbusters and We Honor Veterans.

Jackson, CA...On Monday, June 19, Sierra foothill residents staged a powerful silent protest at Rep. Tom McClintock’s Argonaut High School town hall meeting in Jackson, California. Dressed in the red robes and stark white bonnets featured in the 1985 Margaret Atwood novel, The Handmaid's Tale, a dozen women, ages 12-70, walked into the center of the gym in pairs to protest McClintock’s tenure in office and his voting record. During his time in the House, McClintock (R-CA) has voted against pay equity for women, protections against sexual harassment and discrimination, and the Violence Against Women Acts of 2009 and 2013.
