Posted by: thepinetree on 07/09/2018 04:06 PM
San Andreas, CA...Sheriff DiBasilio administered the oath as 5 new members of the Calaveras County Sheriff's Volunteer Unit were sworn in. The Calaveras County Sheriff's Volunteer Unit is a group of individuals who support the Sheriff's office by working the county substations, doing patrols, working special events, and tackling many of the routine tasks, therefore freeing up paid deputies and saving county resources for other important needs. You will often see the volunteers at parades, the county fair, and other events. In addition to traffic control and crowd safety, the volunteers also take some of the paperwork burden off the Sheriff's department, offering a cost effective yet secure means of sharing the workload.
