Copperopolis, CA...After slight gains on Monday, all three major indexes – the Dow, the S&P 500, and the Nasdaq – closed lower every day from Tuesday through Friday amidst weak economic data and disappointing earnings results. Equities also faced pressure from the Federal Reserve’s warning that the recovery is weakening. In a statement made Tuesday, the Fed admitted that “The pace of recovery in output and employment has slowed in recent months." It also added that while it still expects the economy to grow, the improvement will be "more modest in the near term than had been anticipated." This outlook was among the most pessimistic to come from the Fed in over a year, and it seems to have cast a cloud over stock performance. For the week, the Dow lost 3.3%, the S&P dropped 3.8%, and the Nasdaq slid 5%.

FIRE NEWS...Vegetation Fire at Quill Road and Black Creek in Copperopolis..Near CONTAINMENT AT 3:21pm |

Copperopolis, CA...Multiple crews along with all Columbia aircraft are responding to a vegetation fire on Quill Road and Black Creek Copperopolis. Update 2:33pm, Fire is at 3-4 acres. Update 2:48pm, "Fire at 3-5 acres according to CAL Fire Command Center. Crews still working on it." Update 3:21pm, "Fire is being at held at 7 acres. Forward rate of spread has stopped. Near containment." According to Mike at CAL Fire Command Center. More to come if needed...

Fire Alert...Vehicle Fire on O'Byrnes Ferry Road |

Copperopolis, CA....Crews from multiple agencies and all aircraft out of Columbia are responding to a reported vehicle fire with vegetation involvement on O'Byrnes Ferry Road at Wagner Ranch. Update as of 1:37pm...The vehicle/vegetation fire on O'Byrnes is approximately 2 acres and there were injuries to the driver of the car that crashed that started the fire. The vehicle was fully engulfed as well. Crews sound confident they can make quick work of the fire... Update as of 1:49pm they have just called the fire contained an they expect to have crews on scene for about an hour...

Copperopolis, CA....With large numbers of our local youth returning from the Middle East with experiences that only another veteran of war could possibly understand, a VFW Post is a vital to the healing process that those young men will need. Copperopolis, CA..Crews from multiple agencies and all air craft out of Columbia are responding to a vegetation fire near 2868 Singletree Drive. More to follow (Update as of 3:48pm first on scene are reporting a 1/4 acre fire up against a road and near a structure. Aircraft overhead have stated that this one should be able to taken care of by a couple of engines on the ground and they have just called it contained at 3:49pm...

Umpqua Bank, known for their community commitment, is helping children with a “School Supply Drive” at their Spangler Lane location. Seeking donations of binders, pencils, glue sticks, back packs, paper, art supplies, or anything that is school supply related to donate to Copperopolis Elementary for distribution through teachers to students in need. Umpqua Bank will be accepting donations of school supplies until August 17th.

| Sonora, CA...One of the big outcomes of this morning's Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors meeting, is that they voted to move a potential noise Ordinance forward concerning boating and water skiing and Tulloch Reservoir to regulate sound amplification devices on boats.... |

Saturday night the Sports Pub brought in a hilarious form of entertainment to Copperopolis, a touring comedy show titled “Just Another Hangover Tour.” The headliner, harking from Humbolt County, which he inferred should tell you a lot, came on the scene in early 2003 and has been touring the US ever since; hitting luxurious destinations such as Puxico, Missourri at Cooter Browns Club, and Shattuck, Oklahoma at Young Guns Saloon claiming all the while “If you’ve heard of it…we don’t work there.” With such well known towns under his belt, it was only a matter of time before he landed in Copperopolis…or in jail, but I digress, that is a story better told by him....

Crews Make Quick Work of Little John Fire |

Copperopolis, CA...Crews quickly knocked down and contained a acre and half fire in the Little John area. Crews are still on scene but they are starting to release any additional units.....
